Debt free in ten years-my new, more realistic challenge.

  • Thanks beanilou, I think I needed someone else to agree with my initial thoughts.:)

I have only spent the £4 on the delivered meal for DA. Wednesday I spent a little on DA's shopping and a little on, I am ashamed to say, some convenience food for us. But we had a 55 mile journey back from DA's and were shattered at the end of the day.

I feel a bit like Judas. I phoned DA's doctor and she has been admitted to hospital. DC is with her still and will be forever in my debt.

It feels like a huge relief that someone has listened to me at last. the GP was amazing, and after getting beyond the receptionist, she couldn't have done more to help.

We have a bottle of wine and amazingly no sons at home with us. After nearly 30 years of children here with us it all a bit quiet and we are recovering form some very busy stressful days. :)

DS2 was moved into his house in Newcastle by Mr P after the trip to Manchester airport with DS1 , whilst I looked after DGD and co-ordinated care for DA, counselled various relations etc. phew! :rotfl:

If not counting DA spends then we are up to 7NSDs. A wedding and sick aunt hasn't really helped for the beginning of the month. :D

Tomorrow hopefully will be a very quiet day:)

  • Today is a cottage changeover day but no one arriving until Monday so Mr P and DD have more time to get it done and everything is a lot more relaxed here today.

Except, there always seems to be an except :D little dog wouldn't put her foot down this morning. She wouldn't let Mr P touch it but she let me and as I was looking for a cut something clicked and now she is putting her weight on it. I am going to see if we can see a vet without it costing an arm and a leg.

  • Vet is not open today except for emergancy call out. I have been sked to keep little dog quiet, give her a painkiller and call them back if she develops a temperature.
Big dog will have to behave and not try to play with her.

Mr P and I have now got horrible colds :D He always says that as soon as we get the chance for a little time together something happens.

Last night we watched 'The Money Pit'. I bought it on 3bay for 99p as I remembered thinking when we bought this house it was like a money pit.

We had a good laugh and remembered how far we have come since those first few weeks here when the rain poured in and the boiler blew up. Mr P and DD both broke bones in our first few weeks here, we entertained a spy for the hunt campaign (he said he was a farmer but I became suspicious when he wouldn't eat meat or fish).
Later a sheep and lambs escaped from the field and ran straight through our conservatory window, the cows got in from the field and ate my whole vegetable patch (first Spring), all the children from the village came and played here because I allowed them inside in snow, wind and rain. Lots of good times.

DA is still in hospital. As a result of me letting all my cousin's know where she is I have had a new offer of help. My DU by marriage has retired and has offered to do whatever we need or that DA will allow him to do. He lives about 30 miles from DA but on much better roads than us. he is going to see her in hospital today. We are staying away because of colds and G Northrun.

plmbl I might take you up on your offer some day.:D And don't forget you are welcome here any time for a cuppa if you are having a day out. You know where we are :D

Another NSD yesterday. I have lost count.

I am going to make a healthy chicken soup for DH and me. All my family thought I was crazy boiling the chicken carcass but today the frozen stock becomes a very useful ingredient.

'Hoppy' (little dog) just hopped past us and made us laugh

  • Little dog has been to vet. She has had an anti-inflammatory injection and has new painkiller (the one I have is dated 2006). The vet can't find anything but says if she isn't improved by Friday to take her back for an xray. Cost was £40

Both of us have still got colds but are hoping to go and see DA tonight if we are feeling better.

Our bank account only has £21 left until Friday. Hope we don't need to buy more petrol :o
