I started this diary when I had ten years until I was 60. As I turned 54 on Sunday I now have just 6 years until I am 60. Somehow at this stage it doesn't look possible. But all is not lost, I feel more confident again, we are chipping away at it slowly. I now have DS3 stopping me from spending anything. He is like having a junior Martin living here.
Today DD is taking me to an outlet store and DS3 has decided he is coming too. I can guess why
Pensions went into the bank today so I have squirreled the balance I need to pay my friend for the lamb into a separate account sop I can write her a cheque.
That is No. 1 debt from my 3013 list paid off.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Pooh, as you know I am in a very similar boat. I'm still keeping 60 as my target, but I won't be too disappointed (or surprised) if I still have some debt then.
And remember that although we both have lots of debt, we also have lots of assets. Sometimes I forget that there are two sides to my balance sheet! Maybe you do too. It could be a lot worse, and we WILL get there. At 60 or 61 or 62 - it doesn't really matter that much, in the grand scheme of thingsLBM Dec 2011. Hi folks, Sorry I have been AWOL again but have been very busy. I will let you know later how I have got on with tax office, electricity company etc.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Happy and pinot, I constantly have to remind myself that although I am very cold we are not hungry and we have a roof over our head and we have lots of equity. As my DB's GF says we are cash poor but property rich.
I think maybe I should aim to be debt free by retirement but will stick to 60 for now. It concentrates the mind.
Personal finances.
I have had a busy time. Yesterday I spent the best part of a day waiting for various departments at the tax office to answer the phone. the final result is that we can pay £10 per month until Mr Pooh is working again. Then we can hopefully pay the tax bill with one week's pay.
The bank sent us an e mail today to say they are reducing our overdraft by £1000 to £260. From the end of February!!
As we are up to the limit almost all the time at the moment we really need it. I phoned them but was told they now only deal with people via secure messages on the website. I have written explaining the situation and wait to see what happens next. We could do without this at the moment.
The electricity company have agreed to us paying fortnightly on the day we receive benefits so that solves the cash flow problem. Again it has taken hours and hours of phone calls and waiting to hear back. It was my idea in the end and they have gone for it so I am a very happy Pooh.:j:j
We were desperate for food and fuel so when DS1 gave us £200 towards his keep and his car insurance we pay for him (don't know why?? Add to list of things to sort out) we have managed to buy 2 tons of firewood for £80. AND £50 on food which includes a sack of potatoes for £10 from the greengrocer. We shouldn't go hungry for a whileDD has put an order into Mr A and we have added to it. I did have a lot of things on the list which I then deleted and paired it down to some meat, fish, pasta. With what we have in the freezer we will have enough until 18th February at least.
The firewood comes in 3 metre lengths and is £45 ton hardwood and £35 ton softwood. We have to collect which will cost around £30 in fuel and have borrowed a trailer from a friend for free, or maybe a pint. DD found the firewood on ebay.
I have applied for two grants for air source heat pumps. One is a trial rather than a grant ,a British gas offer where they provide all the equipment and we only pay the labour costs. They then collect data of our useage from the equipment over a year. They may not accept us as we still have some single glazing but it is worth a try. The other have agreed to fund £800 towards an air source heat pump which is not really going to help us as we have nothing else to use towards it at the moment.
CPP have written back to me to say they are looking into my claim for misselling, fingers crossed.
I received my C4pitolone ccard yesterday and have been given a £500 0% credit transfer. I transferred £500 from B4rclaycard as it has gone up to stupid % interest. I need to look it up asap. And get more paid off.
Business
We have been listing the cottage on ebay again and although we have had no takers yet we have had lots of enquiries. The problem has been that everyone has asked for dates that are already taken. I have all the dates listed but either people don't read or they just take a chance.
We had someone contact us via facebook and stayed for one night so they could ski on Saturday and Sunday. They paid £80 which Mr P took straight down to the bank on Monday morning for the business account. It is a lean time but I am determined to pay all the bills again this month.
The accountant gave us a £800 bill but has said we can pay monthly. He can see how much we don't have
Currently sitting in the cottage as it isn't let this week. It is so cosy I could live here.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
