Child Benefit fiasco: cuts 'unravelling' already...

Well it covers all pilots so you are kind of there, but our point is so stupid it hardly requires responce.
They are targeting the top 1.2M earning households, airlines covers people earning minimum wage to pilots.
They have targeted on earning, people earning £44K+ have a secondary earning potential and no doubt they will use that one day (when kids go to school etc)
People earning less than £44K and both work do not have that option.
Is it really that hard to understand, it may not seem equal, but it is understandable. Even ninky has come round to why it holds some sense (and she hates the torys)
Of course my point was stupid, that was the whole point of it.
This is just another one we'll have to disagree on Really. Never know, one day, we may just agree.0 -
I agree, everyone should get child benefit even if they do not have children. Otherwise IT'S NOT FAIR.0

I would suggest anyone earning over £44K+ and has a stay at home parent to get a pay drop to £43,999 if it really is that important and stop f'ing moaning.
I bet you would moan if you found yourself in such a situation.
If you lost your CB because you own a house with a mortgage, but your colleague rented a swish home, but got to keep his CB because he rents and even gets 30k a year more than you....I bet you would be seething.
Also bet you wouldn't appriciate being told to stop f'ing moaning about it either.
(Above just an example btw).0 -
My kids have grown up and I don't earn over £44k, why can't I have some benefits? It does seem very unfair.0

I will lose CB you jocky, but I would rather earn over £44K (and it is just over) and my wife does three days by choice.
We don't need it and their are better things to spend £1bn on in the current situation the country is in.
What is the rent mortgage rubbish about?? are you OK? I will lose it and I am not seething at all.:rotfl:
If you cant bring a child up on £44K much like people moan about home owners, you have overstretched yourself and you need to sort your expenditure out.0 -
I do love a really middle class whinge.0

I keep telling you it's merely examples of how random this higher earner stuff is.
Are you seriously telling me, you are for the cutting of CB in this situation...
Person 1. Single father, with 2 kids. Works and earns £46,000 a year, has child care fee's of £6,000 a year.
Person 2. Part of a couple, 2 kids. One earns £38,000. One earns £40,000. Childcare fee's non existant as one works nights, one days.
Person 1 loses their CB, their household income is £46,000 with childcare fees of £6k to enable them to earn their income, therefore actual income is £40,000.
Person 2 keeps their CB, their household income is £78,000.
Come on Really. I don't think you are really looking at this in the reality in which is hits. BOTH can probably do without CB in all honesty. But can't you see just how stupid this rule is?
You'd do well to read my initial post on this thread on page1. I'm not shouting to the rooftops is all just so unfair. I just don't see how people can simply look at this one and tell the person earning 38k less (with childcare fees taken into account), but paying the price of losing CB to stop f'ing moaning.
Can you really justify the examples above?0 -

Person 3
Born ugly, no woman would ever have a child with him, never got any CB at all. How can that be fair?0 -
Can you justify two people earning over £100K each getting it???
Life aint fair, but I would say the single parent could get some other benefits to help & would be more than aware life aint fair.
Or he could get married again to someone on £46K
Life is full of lovely variables, should we help the ones £78K now to compete the with the father and his new wife on £92K home income?0
