yes you're right because cutting Child Benefit is a much, much better solution than cutting the massive Defence budget.

maybe you should take some of your own advice "Armchair critics should become councillors or run sizable budgets themselves before passing scorn on others."

Largest land forces in Europe, yet we're an Island.

The Parachute regiment should be scrapped for a start.

I know that they are looking at switching RPI based inflation rates to CPI ones, even for private pensions, will have my eyes open for anything else.

I'd liked to have seen a full public sector pension fund for all.

Seems a bit unfair that the private sector has to pay for their own cwap pension and contribute to the public sectors good pension while the public sector just contribute to their own.

Course, if i was that bothered i could always become a public sector employee

there are much bigger kills to save money than child benefit.

defence and the 'social protection' benefits are more important.

it looks more and more like they are making a political statement.

There's one biggy, a real biggy, that's only going to get bigger.

I don't mean as a new measure. But it's possibly how it should have been even if it was watered down a bit to share about.

That was an interesting program on last night showing how "dodgy" the whole pension industry is and how the dealers can make more "kickback" on worse performing products.

Course the poor old pensioner is the one who loses out.
