I think we should give Cameron a break. Why give money to those who have a good income already?

We need to have cuts and this, although is not perfect is at least a start ..... whenever anything gets cut people get all up in arms - yes there will be losers, but it is impossible to have a 100% fair system. Things are tight and we need action... I would personally introduce it earlier.

    So so easy.........;)

This is only a tiny item amongst many. That one suspects will be a major overhaul of the expenditure of Public money.
there are much bigger kills to save money than child benefit.

defence and the 'social protection' benefits are more important.

it looks more and more like they are making a political statement.

There is a cut off for free school meals.

There is a cut off for WTC and CTC.

There is a cut off for childcare help.

There is a cut off for EMA.

There are cut offs for student loans and means tested student grants.

All those cut offs apply where you lose at least a chunk of the benefit for earning £1 over the limit. They are all benefits that you only get if you have children, or they go to the children based on the parents income.

Now there is one more - CB.

Its not fair. But life isn't fair and it never has been.

Edit: The strange thing is, you are against SMI being cut! "lifes not fair" didn't come into the equation then. You wanted people left in their homes at taxpayer expense. Weird.

That's because no one wants their own welfare payments cut: everyone else’s, yes, but not their own.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Todays announcement will be buried under the deluge of further announcements......

Hence why it was made first.
  • .

Exactly the same would happen with CB now. Could have someone getting £200k a year in maintanance, yet they earn 20k, and they will continue to receive child benefits. Maintenance is always disregarded.

Maintenance payments are being disregarded for child tax credits too.

  • 83% approval rating.

It seems carol has a truly unique definition of the word "unravelling".

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

What announcement? I thought you were joshing about pensions...

The quick scan I've head of the news websites last few weeks have all said pensions is the only area to remain untouched?

I know that they are looking at switching RPI based inflation rates to CPI ones, even for private pensions, will have my eyes open for anything else.

  • You can't even justify your telling people to stop f'ing moaning. So I don't see why I should justify using a system already in place and being paid for ;)

Who told you life would be fair?
