You can do (I've done the same with my Dad's Orange phone) Just remember if you leave it on manual it won't ever go back on Orange (unless you select automatic, or Orange under manual selection) even if T-Mobile doesn't have coverage and Orange does.

Only other negative is that incoming calls seem to take slightly longer to connect (couple of seconds of silence from the phone making the call to the first ring) through they seem to come in reliably enough.

Only for Orange phones using the T-Mobile signal (and T-Mobile phones using the Orange signal)
When someone calls your number, there seems to be a longer than usual delay before they hear ringing (and your phone starts ringing)
It's not excessive as there is normally a little delay anyway, it's an extra second or so.

Most callers probably wouldn't even notice.

Technically you are roaming on another network so it will take a bit longer to connect the call, come Janurary the plan is for it to be seamless across 2g and 3g, the handset will automatically pickup whichever signal is strongest

Yes it is. I'm with T-Mobile and am currently using the Orange network

Usually can't get an Orange signal in my room, but now I get full bars on T-Mobile. Can't fault it.

I noticed data on my bill (at zero charge) comes up as Orange/UK (normally T-Mobile/UK)
Since I have a HTC Desire, it'll probably do this every time it roams onto Orange so will be a good way of keeping track of just how often it roams.
I just hope the good work continues and they don't try and remove too many masts to 'consolidate' the network so we end up with the weaker of the current two signals!

Just spoke to the technical team at Orange.... The advisor was really helpful and arranged for me to receive both Orange and T-Mobile signal.

Can i just check with others what you have on your screen now.....

I have " Orange T-Mobile " as my network operator
