Just got back from watching Gnomeo and Juliet at Mansfield Odeon...an excellent film that both myself and my daughter enjoyed....quite upsetting though to see loads of families turned away due to overbooking0

Surely not?? We were there too and there loads of seats left down the front and quite a few near us towards the back!0 -

It seems to be that the cinemas go by the number of tickets provided than by the number who turn up. I used to go to free screenings a lot and was always annoyed when I heard that friends had been unable to get tickets and yet saw loads of empty seats... people just don't appreciate stuff when it's free.
What they should do (as I saw a couple of times) is to provide loads of tickets which are only valid when you turn up, but apparently the companies who provide then to the cinemas don't want it that why - yet the more people watching, the more to recommend the film to friends.0 -

I thought they were empty too until I went for a coffee and realised there was a full row of little kids that I couldn't see from above lol0 -

No, the ones I'm referring to were definitely empty - at least 15 down the front and a similar number around us spread out around the back few rows. There were two in our row and another two in the row in front.0 -
We saw Gnomeo and Juliet at the Trafford Centre today and it was full - people got turned away. I don't know why they can't just count the number going in then stop anyone else, rather than letting them in to hunt seats that just aren't there. We got there very early (10.25) and it was filling up already.
Film was good, much better than I expected.******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

I was one of the people who got turned away from Trafford, got there around 10:40 to be told to wait in queue with around 60 or so other people. After 10mins we were all told tough luck it was full. Lots of very unhappy and crying children. Couldn't believe there was so many of us who couldn't get in, very bad to release so many tickets. :dance:0 -

60?! Heck, that's a lot. Around 15 actually came into the screen and had to leave. It was a very small screen, smallest I've seen.
Sorry you missed itdid you opt for something else?

Yeah I couldn't believe it either, was at Bury yesterday for Yogi Bear and that was full to, but only a few people coming in after it started couldn't get seats. For so many people not to be able to get in is just not on, and still more people turning up for it as we were leaving as well. :dance:0 -
