  • I can honestly say that 95% of all postings on the code only thread are of no use to me at all - because my city is rarely listed.
Does that mean that there should be a thread for London screenings only for example?
    Not in my opinion.
As others have commented, I have enough to do checking all my regular threads without having to search for yet another 'new' thread - esp as all these new threads will not be able to be set up as stickies.
We have had endless requests to have this discussion thread as a sticky so it is easier to find..... and therefore hopefully cut down on chat on the code only thread.
We have not been able to set it up as a sticky - so there will be no chance of a splinter code thread being a sticky.
If we are talking democracy (which we are not) I vote to keep the code thread altogether, irrespective of whether you need to be a Sky customer, Sky movie customer, Virgin Customer, Registered with SFF, live in Bristol or London or happen to buy a magazine.
    A free screening is a free screening.....imo;)

I think you're doing pretty well if you're getting a 5% hit rate - it used to be like that a year ago for me, but down to 0% now. Solution for me is probably to just unsubscribe, I guess. Shame.

Really? You must be in a very unfortunate geographical position.

My local cinemas are Derby and Nottingham, but we often go to Leicester and have sometimes travelled to Stratford or Birmingham for something we really want to see. I've even sometimes combined a trip to my brother in Liverpool or my Mum near York with a film and made a weekend of things. I took my Mum to her first 3D film (Monsters Vs Aliens) back in 2009 and she loved it.

My girlfriend and I and our two children are going to Birmingham tomorrow to see the potentially dreadful Yogi Bear. The tenner of petrol is well worth it when considering the best part of £40 those 3D tickets would have cost us!
  • More tickets available for Animal Kingdom, Tuesday 8th February, check code thread.
  • Gutted there are no tickets available for Paul in the north of England...gonna keep my fingers crossed that some come up as the trailer looks hilarious and I loved nearly every Simon Pegg film I've seen so far.

DS is desperate to see this. He loves every Simon Pegg film he has ever seen and has been 'nagging' (can males nag?) ever since he saw a trailer for the film ages ago.

Again no tickets for my city, but while there is life, there is hope !;)

    blahblahdoh.
5% is just the times my city is listed. Doesn't mean to say I can always manage to get tickets.
The Free Cinema code thread is still the first thread I check on MSE.... and no I do not and never have bothered with email alerts, so it doesn't stress me out when there is the odd chat on the code thread, or lots of codes posted which are of no use to me.

Besides which, I log into MSE before I log onto my emails, and since my first stop is the code thread, what would be the point?

I think that quite a few of us are in "unfortunate geographical locations"! There has been nothing...nothing...for Exeter for weeks now. The North seems to have loads, so perhaps it's a North/South divide!! :rotfl:
Just joking before someone starts on me...I AM a northerner who lives in DEVON!

I don't do this very often...BUT...there is a lot of true about that. I'm total foreign and lovelovelove going up North. There is something about them thet attracts, maybe I'm wrong but I find them super sweet and chatty and kind as an overall. Deffo the north is a soft spot for me I just go lyrical about it:T
Thanks to those who help us to win !

But GB, doesn't that mean that, as Northerner, I am entitled to just as good choice of films. It shouldn't matter that I am currently living in gorgeous Exeter! ;)
