im so sorry to hear about this - what an idiot! and fancy ignoring you !!!!!!? do you have any mutual friends who can try and win him around to at least make him cooperative?

if his name is on the contract too, he is legally obliged to pay his fair share of the rent.

any chance of getting a part-time job one or two eves a wk, or overtime?

I would defo work on that mobile contract reduction!

Well done :T good start! Like i said speak to the Citizens Advice because they might be able to give you more legal advice about claiming benefits as a single/seperated person (obviously you will only be divorced if he signs something and since hes behaving like a child that doesnt seem likely)

Are you getting your single person discount on your C tax now? xx

I'm so sorry to hear whats happened to you. What a shockingly awful thing to do :-(

I hope you manage to get things sorted soon. In the meantime I would definately contact Citizens Advice - surely if your married he can't just run off with everything you have and leave you destitute..what a prat!!

    Good luck hun x
  • The tenancy is in joint names yes, but he has picked his moments wisely because he knows that i will not be able to renew the tenancy alone, and as it expires on 25th oct i will be in effect homeless. going home may be an option but only short term because my mam and dad will lose what benifits they get.

if i do get tomorrow off work i will write a list of things to do tonight, and tackle them head on tomorrow, c/tax, debts, sky, T-Mobile etc. may also go to see my solicitor. (he is a family friend so probably wont charge me)

we do not have any mutual friends as i was not allowed any friends when we were together.

im really thinking that i am going to go back home, i will be able to clear most of my debts in about 4 months if i do so that will be a bonus..

Im so grateful for all of the help i have got on here. Thank you all so much.. for every bad person there is clearly alot of good kind people.

i am a fighter, but just feel like i have been winded so bad that i cant get up.

    Ok

So if the tenancy expires on October 25, you can leave on october 24 and not owe any rent at all; there is no need to allow it to go to a rolling tenancy and then give a month's notice. Does not matter what is in the tenancy agreement, that is the law on ASTs. Go over to the housing and renting forum for confirmation.

It is polite to let the LL know you are going but no legal obligation.

Who will the deposit go back to? Him or you?

Sure sign of an abusive relationship.

  • i will get the deposit back because it was my mam who paid it for us.. and the admin fee. she said that i can keep it if i need it. so thats a bonus.

my question is, there will still be outstanding bill on EDF for gas and electricity.. how do i pay this?
