Gosh - how horrible. As well as what SaltnVinegar has suggested I think your immeadite priorities are to make sure you have food and to make sure you can get to work.
If any bills are due in the next week you might want to get in contact with people and explain that things are a bit difficult this month but you are making alternative arrangements and will be in touch as soon as possible.
Good Luck

Wa sthe laptop yours? As in personal property you can prove you paid or financed it? coz thats theft and you could report him for that.......might make you feel a bit better.
Is your work as far from your parents house? just a thought?
You need to start again really with all your financial stuff have a look at other SOA's so see what bills you should be paying then dig out the statements and see how much you do. You already know rentwise what you owe so thats one thing down.I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Given him 24 hours to return this or you will report it to the police (assuming you can prove it is yours).
If the flat is in joint names, when is the tenancy up, please?
Was he working? Does he have any sort of habit?
Get all accounts that he can access closed. Assume that since he has the lap-top everything is compromised.
Get a CIFAS preventative warning on your credit record urgently http://www.cifas.org.uk/default.asp?edit_id=565-85, other wise he may be able to use the information on your lap-top to open accounts or get goods delivered at your expense. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Have you got anyway of contacting him - ie email/mobile/via his parents/friends etc?
I'm not suggesting you phone up and have a massive argument with him (though I wouldn't blame you) but you might need to try and get him to give your stuff back and if not tell them to tell him you have reported the thefts etc.

Link to SOA caculator here:
http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html so you have some idea of what needs paying - obviously priorities are things like getting in touch with the landlord or letting agents, council (re benefits and council tax), electric/gas etc - it might be worth typing a standard letter and sending it to everyone letting them know there are problems and that you will be in touch as soon as possible.Making my money go further with MSE :j

i cant prove that the laptop was mine as it was paid for cash and i dont have receipt, tried calling the police about it last night but they said it was a domestic matter and they cannot help me. work is just as far away from mam and dads as it is mine. tenancy is up 25th oct, but need to give 1 months notice so im stuck there for another month. also next pay will be short 3 days as i have just been off sick and didnt get paid for it. he does work, and earns good money, so has no reason to shaft me like this.
this is basically what my income and outgoings is..
income 975
rent 425
council tax 97
gas 61
electricity 83
water 26
TV 13
Sky 21
Mobile 45
BAYV Tv 100 ( this is for 8 weeks but the day that they collect it means this month it has to be in early)
Bus Pass 80
total debt payments 135
house ins 34
total 1120
deficit 145
See where my problem is..
and thats before i even think about shopping for food, or essentials0
