What about an auction house? My local auction house does house clearances ... however beds rarely go for more than £20 (even if they are in perfect clean condition). Maybe you could do what that guy did on ebay and sell your whole life (job and friends, etc) http://www.mahalo.com/man-sells-life-on-ebay/
  • I also need a new lodger.. Anyone know Where to start looking?

Are you anywhere near a college/university? Most will be sorted but there are always a few people who leave it til the last minute. Or a hospital for trainee doctors and nurses?
  • I do live close to the local college so that might be an option.. I looked on houseshare and found 2 people who are looking for a room in my area.. I have sent them messages so we Will see what happens
  • hi guys. i was just wondering if one of you wonderful people may be able to help me.

i have received a gas bill, that shows that i am £62.57 in credit. it states that this balance will be transferred onto my next bill. is there no way that i can get a refund on this now instead of waiting until my next bill? because i will be changing the name on the account in february, as i am leaving then, so i wont actually get another bill in my name, then the person whos name i am changing it to will benefit from the credit that i have accumulated

    xx

You will get a final bill when you leave and contact the utility company with your final readings. I'd be careful about drawing out this surplus as this time of year is when bills go up and you might find your self with a HUGE whopper of a bill when you move out if you take that out. Who-ever moved in after you won't benefit from your "credit" - it's yours and you can have it when you close the account :) IF it's still in credit with the final reading... (do you know when the last official reading was and if your current bill is an "estimate"? if it is then please do check your meter isn't way out on what your estimate has come in at...)

  • it is an actual reading, the gas man came and took the readings. i wont be closing the account as such, it will just be getting transferred into my house mates name. xx
  • Hi guys... How is everyone? Xx
  • a couple of years ago me and my ex were silly and got some shopacheck loans.. we were paying them every week, then i got sick of mine and decided to pay it off.. i called up and made a payment over the phone, and at the same time paid my ex's weekly payment.. i thought that was all fine until i got a letter to say i had defaulted on my payment. i called them and told them that i have paid it off.. they looked into it and saw that they had used my payment to clear some of my ex's loan off.. they said they had rectified the error.. fast forward about a year and im getting letters and phone calls from DCAs about this loan.. i have explained that i have paid it, but they said they need proof of the payment, which i cant provide cos i used my ex's card.. and as we are not on good terms, he wont help me and give me the banks statement to prove it.. any ideas what i should do? im not paying it again when i have already paid it once xx
