if you have a 4x4, any chance you can go up on the kerb and get in once in a very ugly way, then he would be blocking you on your drive? perhaps there might be room to do that when the car is there, but not when the van is there? then you would have no choice but to ask him to move to let you out (presumably for something important like a medical appointment?!), or call the police for assistance if he refuses/isn't there....?!

I am still stuggling to see how a car parked on the opposite side of the road can be deemed as blocking a drive on the other side of the road. If the car is that close to block a drive it must be blocking the road too, ok it might make it difficult to manouvre on and off the drive but block it completely.........

Maybe the pics will clarify things.

The Council will not be able to do anything, obstruction is a Police matter, but they are not causing an obstruction. The Police will just show you how to manoeuvre your vehicle into the drive.

Is it his own van or a company van?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

The best way in is probably forwards. Reversing always means your front end swings out, which doesn't matter so much when you reverse out of the driveway.

how do you suggest the affected person goes about declaring a section of the public highway a no parking zone,
    Through an injunction

Not necessary to 'dig up' the pavement to erect a sign. Sign can be attached to a wall or gate.

and carry out enforcement of it?
Like I stated, that is up to the County Court, who will make sure that special provision can be made for the disabled.

Maybe it could be done, maybe not but it would certainly not be, in your words, "a simple step".
It would be, for most people with half a brain:think:
    If it moves; sue it!

The other thing to check is that there aren't any restrictive covenants on the properties preventing vans being parked at home - not massively likely but its an avenue worth checking.

Still don't understand how you can't get a car into a 10ft drive (is that seriously the width - you could parallel park in that!) unless there is literally no footpath.

Okay if he does not listen to reason, go to his company and complain , tell them their van is restricting access to your property and that you are having problems as your child is disabled, tell them that if they don't help with their inconsiderate employee you will go to the local press.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Even if there were a covenant it is highly unlikely it would be enforced unless the people who made it have some financial interest in the area.

Is that going to turn out like that episode of One Foot in the Grave though where Victor phones the number to complain about driving on the back of the van and gets through to the driver? :rotfl: It's a good idea though, particularly if it's a bigger company than a one man band.
