Its bad enough having to deal with selfish people in society but even more dispicable that they then go out of there way to make life hard particularly when someone has a disability. Pure 100% low life's you have my sympathy OP0

2 sides to a story? House opposite has been occupied by the same family for xx years, New neighbour moves in who is not good at parking? And complains about their legally parked vehicle.
How wide is the pathway? Does the angle of teh drive hinder access?
I see it everyday, People think they are driving a bus & stop when there is enough room to pass other vehicles.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

We have to take the OP's post at face value, but generally you do have a point.
The lady opposite us has a tiny Micra and makes a right pig's ear of reversing back into her driveway each day - she glares at us for being parked outside our house! And woe betide anyone who parks near to her dropped kerb, she once had a right go at me for parking there on 'her' side of the road. I was nowhere near the white line nor overhanging the dk - she just wants acres of space to manouevre her toy car in.:DPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

thanks again for your posts, its a work van and its the size of an AA patrol van (sorry - no nothing about vans)! To put things into perspective I live in a small street that has four houses in each side of a narrow road. All of the houses have drives (some taking one car, others can take four). The neighbours opposite have a drive that can house 4 cars - they have four cars, they park one in the drive leaving three on the road- the van sits opposite my drive, his daughter's park their cars in front and behind the van. I park where I can, most of the time I have to park round the corner on another street! I have never been able to park in my drive since moving in! I have asked the husband to move his car but he has refused. They have bought their council house and don't know how long they have been in it, the previous tenant of my house (5+ years) did not have a car and therefore it appears the neighbours have always been able to park there. However, the previous tenant is gone, I'm here, I have a car, I have a young son with mobility problems (the reason I got this house was because of my son's disability) and I pay rent, council tax etc and want access to my drive without having this hassle!
Am I asking too much?0 -
There you are then...they are BOCs
Better Of Council
Think they are better than their neighbours because they bought the house on the cheap and therefore must be the only ones in the area who work. I guess they have a conservatory and concrete imprinted driveway too?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
Have your tried to appeal to his sensibilities regards son's disability? I know it's probably not something someone in your situation would like to do, but a mobility issue is clearly a good reason to park on your own drive.
If they really do obstruct your drive, park on it while they're out - then when they block you in call the police and they'll stick a nice £60 fine on the windscreen for you.0 -
Thanks Anewman but there is never a time when my drive is accessable - if the van is not there then another family member's car is! i have not went down the disability route with him as he is such a low life it would pain me to divulge something so personal to him.
I am going to video the van and cars tomorrow and
1) go to the council with it
2) name and shame him on Youtube (perhaps)0 -
Why don't you park on his side of the road, and block his van in if he doesn't listen to reason, and make his life as difficult as he is making yours, I know its confrontational but you have that already and if he is not listening to a reasonable request to give you enough room to get on your drive, your options are limited though to be honest, I live on a narrow road and have to reverse into my drive as its a tight fit .Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Its no help but the guy with the van sounds like a complete tool! People like this need their vans set on fire late at night if you ask me!

I see no shame in just saying "look my son is disabled and has mobility problems, it would be a great help if I could park outside my house and access my own driveway". If he uses it as a reason to verbally abuse you then that just goes to show what a true low life he is, and if he parks elsewhere then you've got what you were after. I suspect there's a chance he already knows about it though as mobility issues are often visible.
I wonder if the council may be more willing to act when it comes down to acting versus you going on the property list again and getting priority due to disability etc.
Not so sure on the youtube naming and shaming. I'd be interested in seeing the layout of the road and how his parking prevents use of your drive, but if he or one of his friends finds it it could lead to no end of trouble.0
