Is making the driveway wider feasible for example taking the gates off etc ? That may help, also can you park on the drop curb area thereby stopping your neighbour parking his van opposite your drive ? He would be causing an obstruction if he parked there.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Could section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 be any use? http://www.glass-uk.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=267&Itemid=145 Main points against are it refers to being "driven", although it could be argued that a parked vehicle has been driven there. Also I believe for action to be taken it needs two different complaints. I wonder if a Police officer might use it just to give him a fright for the benefit of allowing a parent to drive their disabled child to the door, if I was an officer I would.0

The comment he passed of "I pay my road tax and will park where I like" won't hold much water with the Police if he genuinely is blocking access to your drive; Road tax doesn't allow you to cause an obstruction.
Depends how far you want to go but if he is blocking your drive simply call the Police but that may end up casuing you a whole load of grief if he's a bit of a clown - which it sounds like he is!
Best of luck0 -
I'm still struggling to get a picture of the situation in my head. Where I am there is dropkerbs, normal width pavements and then gates to drive are pretty typical. I really struggle to understand why a van on other side of road but not encroaching on your 'side' of carriage way stops a Clio or fiesta reversing onto a drive. Would say a fire engine be able to get past??
My parents drive is literally off a narrow country lane which will not allow cars to pass and is barely wider than a vectra but we do ok although sometimes you can misjudge and end uphaving to do a bizzare 3 point manoover so I don't wipe out my rear left wing on a stone wall so i'm having great difficulty getting an idea of the position of gates/van/car that means its totally impossible for everything yet cars can still pass.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

I fully sympathise with the situation you are in but what's the answer? Double yellow lines perhaps. If neither you in your 4X4 or your friends with more modest cars can access the drive when the mans daughters are parked there, unless they have great big wide vans too, then yellow lines are the only solution that can rectify the situation..0

The van is there first so the OP would be causing the obstruction and my reading is that another car from the van drivers household is parked in the space when the van is not there.0 -
Yes, I wasn't sure about "visioning" but was having a mental blank regarding the right word.
@mjm3346 -you are right that the OP has said that there is never the opportunity to park outside the house, because the van or something else is always there.0 -

I have a dropped kerb, a gate on the drive - without his van being there, I could easily reverse into the drive. my sister who has a little clio and friend who has a fiesta also cannot get into my drive - so its not the size of car but the fact we cannot swing the car into position because of the van parked. Yes cars can get down the road when his van is parked but his van takes up half the road.
wish i could set the thing on fire but not that kind of girl
3 Simple steps to resolve this.- If I were in your position, I would first put up a 'Disabled: No Parking Please' Signpost.
- If that still doesn't work, then you write them a formal letter ordering them to comply with your notice or legal action will be taken.
- If that still doesn't work, go to your local county court and ask the reception clerk for an application for an injunction (easy to fill in) and file for an injunction.
If it moves; sue it!0
