This is non-Avon-related but I'm so angry! Husband's already had some  and I've watched "Graphic Designer vs Client" on Youtube (lots of swearing so you're warned if you fancy watching it yourself).

Basically, been doing a website for someone. I let them see the first version, they really liked it, everything looking on-track, then I get an e-mail from a third party who says he's a friend of my clients and is being paid to "improve visual design and usability". He's put pages of bullet-points together saying what needs doing. He's not even a website designer and has no practical experience in any field of design  But I'm being spoken to as if I need hand-holding throughout the process! He said I had to "follow his instructions" and get back to him.

I've contacted the client and said that I answer to them, but this other person isn't paying me and isn't my boss. Ultimately I'll do what I think is best. If they insist that I follow this other person's instructions (which involved taking really poor images from a Word document that are too small) I couldn't bring myself to put my name to the site. It would look embarrassing.

The tone was so patronising, and I was being blamed for inconsistencies in the text/pricing that are nothing to do with me. Believe me, I've tried to get straight answers out of my client many times. I was told that if anything he asked me to do was "too technical" (i.e. change some text, images and graphics) then not to worry. If that was too technical I wouldn't have been able to make the site in the first place!

"My friend's wife's daughter in law picked out some nice curtains for her house, so I thought I could show her some of your ideas and she can make some suggestions. She's really good with colour and things like that."
I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for. :( I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

I,Geek! How rotten! Do you really need this client? If they are not happy with what you have done and got a third party involved without telling you! And they sound unprofessional! Grrrrrrr

That's the thing - the last e-mail I got from the client said they were really impressed with the site. No negativity, no mention of employing someone else. Sometimes people show it to their friends/relatives (husband also gets this as an architectural technician) and they pass on their opinions, but you can just ignore them - it's a bit different now this other person is being paid. It was also clear that the site they saw was the first version. There were no problems with links, it's easy to navigate. It's basically this other person's opinion on how big the logo, image, text should be... And then some other suggestions that show no understanding of how you make a site and work with images.

I've asked the client where I stand. The other person might just have got carried away.

That quote at the bottom of my last one is from the Youtube clip, but it pretty much sums up what happens sometimes.

    ?

Did you check on your contract which mailplan you are?

Can't help with the bags, I get mine from ebay. You could try in your local pound shops/supermarkets and see if they have any in a suitable size.
