Still no heating here either. I think we are luckier than some of you. It's probably not as cold here. My room thermometer says 16.3. Although I actually think I'm getting used to it, I went to a friends who had the heating on and was uncomfortably hot! We are going away next Saturday to visit friends for a week and when we come back it will be November. I'm still not going to put it on until I really have to.

I keep my heating on all the time, but then the energy used to completely heat up a cast iron (at least I think it is) cooker/boiler is probably the same as it being on low constantly. Also I'm at home most of the day with smallest child and always using it to cook, dry things etc.

No central heating on yet. I have a log burner in the living room which I put on about 5pm and it is on until I go to bed about 11.
I mostly stay in the kitchen where the Rayburn is on but the temperature today (in the kitchen) is 16.5C which I find OK...I do have multiple layers on though.
I live in a big old house in the country in Scotland which isn't very well insulated in spite of my best efforts!

I cannot bear to be in a really warm house now.

And I haven't had a cold for years....tempting fate I know....maybe it's too cold for the bugs to survive.

we have not used heating of any description, no log fire, gas fire, burner, rayburn. Nothing. We are still doing fine and snuggle in a fleece in the evening if needed

I have to let hubby drive the heating as he has Raynauds and gets up at 5.30 in the morning, so I think it has had one or two short bursts, but certainly not on my account.

We did have it on one Sunday a couple of weeks ago when we had old folk visiting and I found it quite uncomfortable.

We have visitors again on Sunday, so I guess it will go on again. I think I will have to tell my guests to bring a bottle - a hot water bottle:rotfl:

Still holding out here but it is blimming cold again today - I'm sat here in my coat, with the hood up.

A hat/hood works wonders btw! Really helps and I'd recommend anyone try it before putting the heating on (well, if you want to hold out as long as possible that is).

Will be November before we know it and then we'll have to decide whether to aim for December...!
  • I'm in the South West and it's been really mild up until last night when I felt very chilly, but by then it was 10.30pm so bed time!

I find the only problem with not having the heating on during the Autumn is that towels don't dry on the rails - I may look into getting a heater for the bathroom for this purpose and for the kids after their nightly showers/baths.
