Is your heating ON or OFF?

We have a super swanky programmeable thermostat so our heating is never "off". We're set for 18.5 degrees in the morning and 17.5 in the evening when we've got the fire lit. The heating has clicked on for the last couple of mornings and we've been lighting the fire for the last week or so but we've got tonnes of free wood to burn at the moment so I'm feeling quite indulgent for getting the living room up to 21 degrees! We were without effective heating or fire for the last couple of winters so this year I plan to enjoy the novelty of being warm0

Chilly here tonight after a day of cold winds and showers. Put mine on 6pm to 10pm to test it. And I also wanted to find out how much gas it uses, so I read the meter before switching on. Meter was last read on 20 August, so I was pleasantly surprised on reading it earlier to find I had only used 14 gas units (or whatever they are called) since that date for hot water and cooking every day. Would go and read meter now but it's situated facing sideways at floor level right at the back of a deep and unlit cupboard under the stairs and I have to go right in and kneel down and then look sideways at it..... so best done in daylight !“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0

I came in from an evening class around 9pm and the house was freezing. I promptly put the thermostat one degree to 19 and on whooped the gch. Wonderful, within five minutes completely warm and defrosted. I think we should all remember the extremes of heat we have consistently had this summer. We are bound to feel the sudden change in temperature. Don't fight it unless absolutely necessary unless you are young and very fit.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I usually try and hold out until October but put the gas fire on for short bursts just to take the chill off the living room in September. I prefer to put on cardigans and thick socks plus a blanket. I've treated myself to a heated clothes airer too so I'm not tempted to put the heating on just to get the washing dry. I'll probably be switching over to my winter duvet this weekend though when I change my sheets.0

Sorry to ask this on a thread completely about something else, but Kezlou, does Hypermobility actually get worse in the cold? I have suffered for many years, and the docs hasn't diagnosed but is 99% sure its Hypermobility. I have been in agony at night for the past few nights (went to be at 845last night as it hurt so much). I didn't know it got worse in the cold?!?!
This is what we've been told by the rhuematologist and the occupational therapist. Apparently because of the flexibility in the joints, cold can easily seep into the joints. so it causes severe aches, pains, twitching and jerking legs. Cramps and joints locking, so i've been advised to keep the house warm.
No way am i letting myself get as bad as last year, my health deteriorated to the point where i ended up in a wheel chair for about 6 months. Stupid get here let myself seize in the cold and over did it. So now were scared and make sure we stay warm. Well my OH does!
I prefer blankets and cardis.
Its is really cold here, today it was 14 degrees outside, the other day it was lashing down with flood everywhere and went down to 12degrees. Myself and the children were soaked to the bone0 -
no, but then my thermometer is telling me it's 19 degrees in the bedroom at the moment. I don't believe it - usually I am uncomfortably warm at 19 degrees but I suppose as others have said my body temp control has reset in the heat. really do need to crack on with a few things though to keep the warmth in and have stated to daydream of stews and crumbles:AA/give up smoking (done)0

Ah the benefits of being menopausal and hot flushes means we'll save a fortune on our heating bills this year. Meanwhile hubby and kids walk round with icicles dangling from their noseGrocery challenge June 2016

Well i shivered a bit last night after work and tonight it seemed a bit warmer when I got home but that didn't last long so I turned thing to 17o and it clicked on for a little while (that was about 10.30pm) my poor hands are really cold now even though it's just kicked in again so I will wait for it to go off and turn the dial down to zero and hope I sleep better than last night.
Aagh where did summer go?
