Me tooIt makes me feel better that i am not the only one who hates putting the heating on until absolutely necessary.
THAT SAID...my heating was on for 10mins the other morning as it was cold when i got up at 7am.
However, i have decided not to put it on again for a while.0 -
Most definitely not, I will not put mine on until at least the end of October.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Nope. Had a cardi, wooly socks and scarf on in the house the other day, but I get cold pretty easy. I need to figure out a way to not put it on cos I've been freezing for 3 days now and it's making me tiredOctober Grocery Challenge: £20.65/£150

I have to admit i've had mine today and the fire on the gas fire on the past couple of days.
Lets say the pains in my legs were unreal and i could not get warm. My OH kicked off at immediately switched the heating on and said stop being stupid your making yourself ill.
Which is so very true
so the heatings been on for an hour while i dried some clothes.
The ovens on and is currently warming the front room up.
Me and DS2 feel the cold in our joints due to our hypermobilty and i've got osteoarthritis.
Really annoyed though as i was determined to last till the end of September / beginning of October.0 -
Definitely a thin blooded oldie and certainly can't afford to put heating on yet. Trying to hold out as per Army rules - on end Oct, off beginning March.
I live in an open plan house where the heat disappears upstairs so I often retreat to the bedroom for my siesta in the afternoons. These are just some of the things that help me stay warm, you'll find many more on the forums - Keep your hands, feet and head warm. Layer thin knits rather than wearing one thick one, thermal undies and socks, gloves, scarves, pull-on hats, gilets, wincyette jimmies, fluffy dressing gowns, hot water bottles, fleecy blankets - all can be found in charity shops or discount shops like mat@lan and primarnie - warm showers, hot food, soups and drinks, and most importantly, move as much as you can. Even if it's a little bit slow, do some housework, ironing, anything that gets you active will get the blood circulating and increase the body temperature. It also helps if you have a dog/cat sitting on your lap or beside you, and the laptop gives out a good warmth on the legs (tip it slightly so the front edge rests on your tummy, to allow essential circulation). To save fuel learn to use the slow cooker, microwave and steamer to make meals rather than the cooker, leave the oven door open after batch baking unless you have small children in the kitchen. I line my curtains with cheap fleece blankets using safety pins to hold them together and making it easy to take them apart for washing. I have a spare duvet which lives under the bottom sheet in winter, it has just the same effect as a mattress topper and makes the bed feel cosy.
Most important is what renegade mentioned, the flu jab. Nothing more miserable than a cold or flu in freezing weather.
Will let you know how I get on with the heating timing and look forward to reading more tips - you're never to old to learn0 -
I'm sitting at my computer, stripped to the waist, with the window open, and one curtain drawn, to keep the sun off the monitor.
No need for the heating, as it's 72.1 degrees right now, in my living room.0 -

During the day it's been warm but from 5pm the temperature seems to drop. We've had the gas fire on in the living room at night but I'm determined to keep the CH off until Oct by the very least.Books - the original virtual reality.
