I was chilly yesterday evening but too tired to swap the summer silk duvet for the heavier wool duvet.
But I woke a couple of times a bit chilly, but then I'm waking up with sweats too (menopause).
I wish I had done the swap the minute I got in from work, I have to do it tonight.

Mine's not on, I am hoping to wait until November until I put it on. Luckily we are mid terrace and really benefit from our neighbours heat.

Thanks for the reminder about testing it though, I will do that tomorrow.

My dogs have an oil filled radiator on at night now.

We put the flannel sheets back on the bed at the weekend. Bliss.

After our new central heating install failed last year and this summers has been an issue we are probably giving up on renewables and going back to oil. :(. I'm now on drugs which have very nasty side affects In the cold and last winter was pretty grim, especially as I resolved not to p
Its on these threads last year after some unpleasantness year before. The camaraderie of sharing a cold day with others is so helpful!

Anyway, no heating for me yet, but yes for the dogs, one has a sore back, she really needs it ATM, so, they'll get used to it so that's them on for the winter I guess.
  • It's been about 11 to 12 degrees C outside here today and lashing across with rain (not lashing down, this is the east coast, and we don't have vertical rain), but no, the heating is not on. It will not go on at least until October, the thermostat will not go above 18 degrees unless someone is dying and new thermals are on my shopping list (old ones worn out with constant use. The weather forecast reckons on a high of 16 tomorrow so here's hoping! DH is still wandering about in a t-shirt and no socks.
  • holding out till October if possible, though may switch electric heater on in DD2's bedroom (on a thermostat) as her room is cold and she does kick covers off sometimes. Have fleece on my legs at present but only as I'm sitting still, house still fairly warm at the moment as we get early evening sun on the rooms we use which keeps them quite comfortable

Ours clicked on today, we have a baby in the house so we are set for 16 degrees at night and 18 during the day. Normally we have it set to 20 for day time and about 14 for night time.

I had my fire lit on Sunday but only because we were all sick :( Now we're slightly better i'm holding off til atleast October.

I can't actually put my heating on as we have no oil and decided not to buy any this year.We will light the fire and we bought 2 wee oil filled rads for the kids room.

I need to stock up on coal and electric blankets for the kids.

I've been using my electric blanket every night for 2 weeks as my bedroom gets very cold but once i'm in a cosy bed i don't mind.

I was really tempted today; even cuddled under a blanket I am chilly! I feel bad for Hubbs as it was rather cold at 6am when he gets up.

Hopefully we can hold out for another month. I have my slanket on standby!

Ours isn't on - not properly - the rad in the bathroom comes on for an hour in the morning to warm the towels for after our showers but it has been doing that through the summer so I'm not counting it as on. Everything is off the rest of the day but I wish it was on at the moment. I'm trying to hold out till October but I'm feeling quite cold now. I had a hot water bottle in bed last night and didn't realise it was rotting and it leaked  not nice.....
