This is one of my favourite threads!

Mine is off and hopefully staying that way. I have of an evening had the fire on for 5 mins to warm the room and that has been enough. The house is quite chilly though when you leave the living room

Had ours for exactly one hour at tea time, only for a test then off, not going on properly until the end of October if I can help it! We're on the plumber's list to service the boiler and fires soon.

We've been using fleece blankets for a few nights, so bet it won't be long before we're in slippers, etc., soon! :)

  • Mine's now on and staying on as I've just returned home from a week away and was shivering within minutes of being in the flat. I have storage heaters and found that the month when I was switching them on and off (in an attempt to save money), my electricity bill was significantly higher than usual. Still don't quite know how to work them though so I suspect I'm not getting the best out of them. Tomorrow's task!

  • Nah, my flat is still toasty warm. Thermostat says 22degs at the moment.
A bit cold the last few mornings, but fine once I'm dressed. Although I do need to get out my winter PJs I think soon! Still in summer nightwear of a t-shirt and undies! A bit chilly round the legs first thing! haha!

I put it on just now to test it but it made me feel ill. I'd rather wear extra layers, although I suspect the rest of the family won't agree.

I got that feeling putting the electric heater on in the living room, felt kind of sick!
It's my own fault really as the bedroom windows are open as i LOVE a crisply cold bedroom to sleep in

I can barely live on my wage and on pre payment meters, well they eat gas!! I wont turn on my heating unless there is a risk of the pipes freezing. On paper I earn an ok ish wage but travel takes a huge chunk, so for me its layers upon layers and candles to make it feel cosier. I live alone.

I was thinking of getting one of those small portable heaters just to heat my lounge, cost wise per hour does anyone know if they are expensive or not, I vagualy remember someone saying they cost about 5 p an hour but I might be muddled .

Absolutely sweating buckets here - think I might be coming down with something. Am going to put the bedroom fan on again tonight.

I think we need a bit more detail, to answer your question.

Something like the make, model, fuel type, eg. gas, electric, bio-ethanol, paraffin?

ETA: My CH is on at the moment, as it was a bit chilly, but I'm drying socks on the radiators too.
