If it was just me, it would be OFF! (Although not totally, just very, very minimal so that the pipes don't burst) and I'd wear a coat indoors and have candles. I tried this for a while, but I've fairly recently got a tiny, skinny, Jack Russell Terrier after the death of my beloved Jasper and one evening I caught her shivering and crying due to the cold, so small PayDayLoan () and money on the gas meter for her sake. I don't mind freezing myself, but it's not fair that she is forced to suffer because of my problems.

I'm not a skinflint, but I really hate lining the pockets of the pernicious b*st*rds at the gas company (I've got dual fuel, but the electricity costs seem fairer - can't change at the mo' due to IVA but, when that's cleared, the key-meters will be the first to go!).

Temperature in my front room down to 6 C so I'm wearing a fleece indoors and not turning on the CH or gas fire. I'm determined to spend less than £100 for gas this year.

Well dont kill yourself in the process, you may as well sit in your shed at those temperatures..........

  • Talking about heating.

    What is your monthly Bill?

Im with Npower on a fixed monthy cost of abot £110 a month.

    Is this HIGH???

This is for both Electric and Heating.

Hard to say if its high depends on your house and how often you use the heating etc and how many people live there Our is £109 direct debit a month for both with Scottish Power, our house is large and old, and there is only the two of us. I read the meters once a month and enter the readings and a bill is produced, In November the bill was £141, slightly high but we spent a week at home with the heating on, its on for a good few hours a day and most of the day at weekends. We expect it to be about the same now until April. The up side is in the summer months the bill is around £50 a month, so we are there or thereabouts even over the year. Still seems a lot of money each month though but every thing seems to be getting more and more expensive all the time, that said although the house isnt a tropical temp it isnt cold and I have not used the tumble drier this year at all
Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing' ;)

I have one for my cat. It is not super hot but stays cosy all day. I microwave it in the morning then again before bed.

That's the only good thing - lots of extra cuddles!

Keep smiling mrsr - it won't ALWAYS be this cr-p.

Thanks SO much for the suggestion AL; that's an excellent find!

Bit pricey for me at the mo', but I think I might have something similar (more human-orientated but it would do for Giselle) in the cupboard!

    Much love, and thanks again!
