I'm leaving ours on frost setting overnight now. Don't want any burst pipes. It's clicked off now but I've got a hw bottle and the kiddies are tucked up in bed!

  • I've started leaving the heating on constantly now and turn it down to frost setting when everyone is in bed. It's still set at 15 degrees at the moment but hasn't clicked on for hours, i'm not overly cold have a blanket on me and a small halogen heater in one room x

We have the storage heaters on and the bedroom panels heaters are on as well as it is really cold here and has been for a few days now, it snowed on Sunday night and then it froze over and there is more snow and ice forecast overnight.

Maximum daytime temperature when I was out in the car today was -1 here today.

I have one of those(not used at present)debating if I should and put it in my bedroom. It might be cheaper than the gas CH which also uses an electric pump to move the water around the radiators. But as electric is more expensive as an energy perhaps any advantage is lost using the oil filled radiator? I'm unsure.

Heating off and yet quite cosy though I am in bed under the duvet with thermals on and a pair of socks and fingerless gloves. Though the house is cold if I get up and walk about.

    Off :j:j:j

I have never turned my heating on (electric panel heaters.) Nor turned on any radiators here. I moved to a 6th floor (lots of heat to rise!) flat in a modern block and my apartment is always warm so there is simply no need to turn on any heating!

The down side to this was that I got my flat in the summer and in September whilst it was only 14C outside it was 27C in my flat! I only put the duvet in my sheets in early November it was just that warm.

This is all because I only have 2 'windows' one of which is a sliding door to a balcony and one outside facing wall. So the heat from the building basically does not leak out :)

My word you are brave, I have everything shut tight against the cold. I really can't bear it, totally seize up in the cold and can't move, bit like a woodentop if you remember them on watch with mother?

It never ceases to amaze me how we are all different when dealing with cold/heat.

I just dread to think what my heating bill will be this year, but I really can't manage without it unless I hide in bed all day. Not a lot of use that is it? Just wake me up in April :rotfl:!!
