Ours is ON in the downstairs of the house only - and even then it's only from 7.00am-9.00am and 7.00pm-10.00pm. We also sleep with the both bedroom windows open a bit, as neither of us can stand a stuffy bedroom.

During the last couple of days, we've both been at home during the day, so have had to over-ride the timer and 'fast forward' it during the afternoons (after the morning time warmth has gone).
  • Mines on - but very low and then on the frost setting overnight. The front of the house gets the morning sun - so its lovely in here at the moment even though its all white outside!!!

Hiya, I have just been reading this cold snap is going to last till Thursday.
Yesterday I was really cold at home with the Ch on for just a short time. I did the recommended = layered clothing, hot drinks and kept moving, doing the choirs. Stay at home person.
Today I have over ride the Ch as the temp indoors is really low. 15c.
The CH is slowly heating the house. Now 17.2C

I think it got to the stage where you have to act. You have to consider your health. Hypothermia, strokes etc..

I am going to walk the dog round the block in a minute, got to keep moving. I will notice the difference when I come back indoors.

    Take cake and stay warm.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)
  • Heating is on and set to 17 degrees, but our wood burner is going great guns, so it never needs to start. :)

Upstairs a wee bit chilly, but we just leave the doors open inside and let the air flow through the house - takes the edge off.

Kitchen door is shut and the kitchen is freezing though.....

My word you are brave, I have everything shut tight against the cold. I really can't bear it, totally seize up in the cold and can't move, bit like a woodentop if you remember them on watch with mother?

It never ceases to amaze me how we are all different when dealing with cold/heat.

I just dread to think what my heating bill will be this year, but I really can't manage without it unless I hide in bed all day. Not a lot of use that is it? Just wake me up in April :rotfl:!!

Ha ha , ive always slept with the windows open and no heat in my bedroom......

BUT, during the day I like all the other rooms warm at least 21 degrees, even when im working outside ive always got a coat on and rug up well, but when I hit the sheets I always get too hot, I cant answer to why im like that of a night, plus ive only got a 9 tog duvet with crisp cotton sheets and very thin cotton night dress:eek:...........

I spose thats like asking how long is a peice of string? It depends on how big the house is and how many people occupy it.

I pay a little less than that in an end terraced house, choose to pay under what i actually use and top it up with payments when i run up a bit of a bill.

The heating has been on from 7am to 9pm for a couple of weeks, it was set at 15 but particularly chilly now so it's up to 18. I have copd so can't breathe if it gets too cold which annoys me as I love being out in the fresh air! My bill for the last winter quarter was £210, I pay a set amount on dd all year round so it evens itself out.

That's pretty much the same as us. I like to be comfortable but not too hot.

On Thursdays and Fridays we are out all day, so the heating is off while we are at work. It can be very cold when we return home and I have to wrap up with cardigans, scarves and gloves. I have furry boot type slippers so my feet are always nice and warm

  • Temperature in my front room down to 6 C so I'm wearing a fleece indoors and not turning on the CH or gas fire. I'm determined to spend less than £100 for gas this year.
