I have had to concede and start putting our on on the timer in the morning. I am not finding it too cold but my OH says he is cold.

I came home from work the other day and noticed that the timer was set to come on for 5 hours during the day. He works nights and in bed but said he was cold so got up and put it on!

I have now reset the timer to come on for 1.5 hrs so that it is warm when he gets in, and by the time he gets in bed it goes off. I have 'told' him that he either wears jamas or gets a water bottle made up as there is no way I am paying to heat the house when he is in bed and the house is empty!

I was cross to say the least!!!

  • Central heating has not gone on yet, and only used the electric heater one day this week. Feel ok today.

Pleased that ours is still off - it would normally be on by now, but with OH out of work we are determined to keep it off as long as possible, into November if we can... Was tempted this afternoon but realised I wasn't wearing slippers. Getting up in the cold and dark is getting more difficult though!

Having grown up in a warm climate, we both usually feel the cold a lot, though I feel it more than OH, but after 9 winters here we are starting to 'toughen up' a bit, as well as really understanding the benefits of layering and hot water bottles!

It has been a little milder the past few days, and if the promised warm spell hits us next week we will easily be able to keep it off for a while longer.
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

Popperwell, i saw this and thought of you:

It may be helpful for you over the next few months. It may look a tad tacky, but if it keeps your hands warm, who cares!

I grew up in Northern Ireland (which if I'm honest isn't known for being the warmest of climates) and I still feel the cold as if I grew up in a Volcano!

Thank You...when I am near a Poundland I shall seek them out, we have two such shops in nearby towns both 7 miles away...wish we had one on our town...I think it would do well and we have 10 empty shop units. And a couple would be prime sites and large enough for using. One would put them virtually next to a Tesco's and a new Aldi's...
