Well i heard on the radio last night that we are in for an Indian Summer next week, here in the South West!
    Bring it on :)

My routine now is to leave the thermostat at 16, switch it on every morning at 7.30, and leave it on all day until 7pm, then turn it off till the following morning (unless i go out- it gets turned off then).
It hasnt been clicking on at all during the rest of the day, only for 30mins in the morning :)

We still haven't had our CH on yet, although we know we must fire it up to test it at the weekend as we have a relative coming to stay here whilst we go away for a few days in half term, and he will definitely want the heating on.
So far we are doing fine with the woodburner lit in the evenings, and the OH wanted the electric blanket put on the bed this week, but he only gets a blast of warmth for about half an hour as I can't stand being too hot in bed - I still want the bedroom window open and he keeps shutting it!

Is being on an island used as an excuse regarding how electric/gas is generated/delivered as to it being even more expensive than the mainland?

It could be, but I think it's more that they have a monopoly. At one time there was only one mobile phone operator you could use, then a competitor came over and you should have seen the battle for customers :D

Heating not on, woodburner not on. Hoping now to last until at least the start of November.

I've done nothing different and whilst the house is cool if I get out of bed, I am much warmer tonight...even my hands are at a reasonable temperature outside the bedclothes...

Mind, thermals and bedsocks are helping...im-happy-smiley-emoticon.gif

  • I have had my heating on twice so far this month, one morning when it was very chilly for 10 mins and one evening again to take the chill off and dry some washing about 20 mins.

This week it has been very mild here in the south so its not been on at all. I have had to take the throw off my bed and just have a thin duvet as it has warmed up again.

Much the same here, its very mild last week, so Ive not lit the fire for few nights and just had the GCH on for an hour in the mornings, helps with the bill, we will very soon be into November.......:D

It's lovely and warm and sunny here in Cornwall, so the heating has been off all day, ans the washing has been on the line :)
