Is your heating ON or OFF?

  • Heating is still off for me, but I'm getting close to putting it on for an hour each morning. I think I can easily leave it off until November - the later the better!

For every hour my heating is off, I hope that my provider are becoming more aware that people cannot afford to put their heating on at these prices. But reality dictates that the prices will continue to rise, in line with the cost of the provider's christmas party!

Central heating still off. I just use a halogen electric fire with one of its three bars broken given 400 or 800 watts, but it still can keep the room fairly warm (17 to 20 degrees) as there is good insulation in the house.

I reckon I spend about £10 extra a week on the electricity using a small electric fire compared to £30-40 a week on oil for central heating. My boiler is old and very inefficient.

My last treat of the year weather permitting(they say snow here)on Sunday seeing the 60's pop group The Searchers probably warmer in the theatre than here but will probably have to hang around in a draughty bus station waiting for the last bus home and then walk home on deserted streets really late...

Still no heating on and it has been relatively mild in recent days. I'm told that we are expecting snow here in Suffolk too but I've yet to check the weather forecast for myself.

Time to get the rock salt on order!

Thankfully not expecting snow here, and the Metcheck and BBC websites both confirm this for me.

Some links for people who want to check the weather forecast and warnings in their area:

Thanks for the links! We are expecting frost from tomorrow night, with possibility of sleet on Sunday apparently!

I'm firmly in the "on" camp here now. I have a 2yr old and a 3yr old and whilst we're all fit and well, I'm not going to risk illness for the littlies. We are well insulated, however, and we wrap up warm too. Quite excited about the prospect of frost! We'll be playing out I think...

Us too bossymoo. It's on for an hour of a morning and goes on at 3pm till 7pm of an evening. It cools down quickly so it's a case of the dressing gowns and fleeces after that.

I slept in my fleece onesie last night because I was cold. Woke up without covers on a still felt the cold.

    It's changing now isn't it.

I'd heard that we were supposed to be getting snow, but I've just checked the forecast for the next few days and there's no mention. Luckily. It will be ok if it snows next week while the children are off, but I hate walking and driving in snow and ice so don't want it this week!

The heating was on for 30mins at 6.45am this morning, and has stayed off since.
My oldest son is home from school as he is poorly, and he is laying on the sofa in t shirt and shorts saying he isnt cold, so all is good :) Once he starts complaining, i'll put it on again.
