    Morning!

Won't be putting the heating on today at all. I need to stop being so soft :rotfl:
Not too cold here in Cornwall this morning, thankfully!

i had to put the fire on last night as it was really cold, I had opened the windows in the sitting room to air it during the day and forgot to close them until 6pm by which time the temperature had dropped.

It has started to rain here today so I think I might put the heating on later as i have washing that i will need to dry, will be cheaper than the tumble dryer as will have heat and dry washing at the same time

I am trying to use it as little as possible but it is starting to get colder now at night, I am not going cold as think i work hard all year and deserve a bit of heat when I get home but am trying to be as thrifty as I cab

We've only had the heating on one evening so far this Autumn when we really did feel the cold

heating's been coming on for an hour most mornings and evenings, I wouldn't have had it on as much but OH is a bit soft ;)

We have one of those temperature / humidity readers, what temperature do most people think is best to keep the house at? It's usually around 17 if the heating's been on a bit. Also a bit concerned that the humidity level is around 75% ... we've moved to a new bungalow this year and I don't want to have any damp problems, especially as I've got a bit of asthma. Might have to look in to dehumidifiers... I'm surprised at how expensive they are! x

My flat built up mould very quickly when my humidity levels were around 70-80%, I have to run a dehumidifier all the time and it keeps it down to 40-50%. That only rises when the dehumidifier is broken now, if that happens I can start to smell the mould building up - this week it's gone in for repair so am having to have the windows open to try and get the humidity down but have had to give in and put the fan heater on a bit as it's been so cold :(

I have an Ebac Powerpac one, they have great customer service and aftersales/repairs service in the UK and a 5 year guarantee on the model I got but it cost about £270 ish to buy I think. Works well at all temps and takes out a huge amount of moisture each day!

Ours has just gone on for an hour in the mornings at the minute. I'm finding this fine at the minute (to say I used to have it on loads!)
This may be known already but what we've done to avoid putting it on at kids bathtime at the moment is running the bath (hot tap only) with the bathroom door closed about an hour before they get in. They then get undressed and dressed in the bathroom (door shut) as the hot water creates a warm bathroom. We then close the bathroom door after we've done in there and open the window to let the 'damp' disappear.
  • Still off.

It goes on for an hour on a morning if it's going to be chilly and an hour of an evening if the house has that cold/damp feel. During the day it is still fine here. I have a long sleeve top on while sat and the back door is open for my dog to mooch. I foresee that stopping in the next day or so though.
