I set it at 15 but sometimes I still feel cold in the morning and midnight and have to turn it on. I have a baby so I would not let the house be cold which means I can not be too skinny in heating budget.a half qualified cat

My neighbours have their heating on, I can hear the pump cycling on and off. They must have money to burn, literally!
Doesn't it depend on the type of boiler? Even in summer when we have no heating on the boiler will go on and off at times - I think it's to expel excess heat or something.0 -
I don't know what boiler they have, but it's been on and off for the last 2 hours. Its their money at the end of the day.Know the difference between what you WANT and what you NEED. :T0

I think I ought to do a meter reading tomorrow and call it in. My bills just go up and up. I do have two littlies and we've been home all winter but I'm back at work now and it has been warmer. I dread to think what my dds will be if I don't rein it in...Bossymoo

Mine is off and staying off now - it is a bit chilly in the evenings, but not too bad.
I made a strange discovery today which I am trying to figure out. I turned off the hot water via the gas boiler several weeks ago and the electric immersion heater that normally I have on timer (2 x a day for washing up mostly as my shower heats itself) is not going to be turned on this summer. I am using a kettle instead.
Anyhoo, I half-filled the washing up bowl (while the kettle boiled) and felt the water coming out of the tap (no idea why, habit, I suppose) to realise that despite all hot water heaters turned off, the water was tepid, not hot by any means, not even really warm, but certainly warmer than the cold water out of the cold water tap.
No idea how it is warming up - am very confused...31.5/1000 -
My hot water tank is in the same cupboard as my gas boiler, I find that even if I haven't had the immersion switched on the water is still slightly warm. The only time it goes cold is if I haven't got the pilot on the gas boiler lit.
The cupboard does get quite warm, enough to dry clothes in there overnight so I've come to the conclusion that the pilot is heating the cupboard which in turn heats the water a little.Dum Spiro Spero0 -

The CH hasn't been on for a week or two now. It has got chilly in the evenings so we just put the gas fire on for an hour or two. It been great getting the washing dry on the line and the weather forecast is good for the week.

DH is complaining he's cold, then I found he'd put the heating on! I turned it off. It's over 20c inside and nearly 15c outside. He's in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt so I've told him to put some clothes on if he's cold. He claims he's not acclimatised from South Africa, but he's been here for 8 years now so that's rubbish.0
