Is your heating ON or OFF?

  • The bills are just going up and up (although I did hear that some reductions are in the offing), huge price rises at the beginning of the year are just coming through our letterboxes now :(

I am trying all the obvious methods to reduce usage and will be monitoring it monthly (maybe even weekly) to see if I can make a difference.

At least the warmer weather/longer days will be with us soon!

  • Mine's been off for the last 3 days, it is so much milder here, although we are getting some cooler air coming in over the next couple of days, so not sure how long the heating will stay off.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Yep, my heating is officially off now until next winter - unless we get a really cold snap, that is!

On for a couple of hours as it was really cold this evening (and I'm tired which doesn't help) but pleased tp report that between the gas and elec bills which I received a few days ago I'm having £240 refunded into my bank account.

While speaking with Southern Elec the man informed me that electricity is fixed now til mid 2013, and gas is going down by 4.5% at the end of March. Pleased now I didn't change providers when it was suggested :D

    Wow - that's great JackieB!

I have had to put mine on a couple of times for 1 hr in the evenings this week as the temps at night had dipped to freezing. Temps have lifted again now, so fingers crossed this time it really IS it until next winter.

My gas bill for the winter months was £39. That includes about £9 of gas that would be used anyway. And my extra electricity used was about £5, so i'm well happy!!

The weather has mostly picked up earlier than in prev years. My kids have march birthdays, one early and 1 late so I know what the weather is like this time of year, so I've been able to have washing on the line far earlier than the norm. Mr S has worked from home and has gone down to his 'office' (the summerhouse) today. Very pleased about that cos otherwise he makes the place look untidy just by sitting in it:p and I walk down there earlier and he has the oil filled radiator on.:mad: The palce was more like a sauna!!

My neighbours have their heating on, I can hear the pump cycling on and off. They must have money to burn, literally!
