Is your heating ON or OFF?

I've just realised that many of us are talking about totally different things:D
The question asks how many of you have put the heating on? Some are replying, no I've not put the heating on, but had the woodburner / gasfire/ electric heater etc for an hour. Well by that criteria, anyone without central heating would be able to report at the end of the winter that they didn't put the heating on at all:rotfl:Maybe I'm just pointing this out to make myself feel better:p We only have central heating, no other fires, stoves etc, so it's CH or nowt:D And yes it went on using the timer yesterday (had used the boost button for the odd hour of heat before), so of course today is a bit milder:rolleyes: With the thermostat set at 18 in the hall it turned off after a couple of hours this morning. I'll leave it on for now, but if we get a mild spell our new controller makes it very easy to turn on and off at will;)

Ive just got the heating on for an hour to check all is working well, as the past 2 years we have put it on when we have needed it and a valve had gone both times. Good point - I think most people assume heating means radiators or the equivalent (well, I do but it may just be me  ). A fire in one room is just that imo.
We have a gas fire in the sitting rom but don't use it.
We did a few years ago but always switched it off again quite quickly as it made me feel ill. It turned out that was a very good thing as the flue was not connected properly and, despite it being serviced every year, nobody noticed.
Then last year a guy came who had been contracted by the gas company our HA usually use and he said he wasn't happy with the way it came away from the wall and condemned it so they would be forced to act (he put stickers on it saying not to use it and reported it as dangerous). The normal company came out and basically moaned about over zealous contractors making work for them, but the engineer had to eat his words pretty quick when he realised his company could have been responsible for us all suffering carbon monoxide poisoning!
Anyway, even though I now know it is sorted, I can't bring myself to use it any more!
So no heating in our house means no heating of any kind.
Been warmer here today but is going off chilly now. That's more to do with my OH being in a foul mood though!! :rotfl:0 -
No yet, but it was so cold lastnight I had to put extra clothes, so I might just give in sooner than later. Maybe tonight, because right now its already really cold. You are 48% tight

I have pleurisy, so yes our heating is on and has been for the last 2 days, but after an initial burst at 20 to get rid of the damp feel, the thermostat is now set at 16 and I am snuggled up under a lovely warm duvet with a very cuddly puppy who is like a hot water bottle!
We also have a memory foam mattress topper on the bed (cheap at Aldi last week) and that has made the bed lovely and warm. We have a condensing combi boiler so hopefully the bill won't be too scary! I do prefer to stay active (when I can - I have cfs) to get warm but sadly no choice this week.
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
