Thanks for the tips! Maybe I should invest in a tumble dryer? It's something I've never had - my parents never had one so it just never crossed my mind to get one!0

I resisted for year and years, and really do only have one now becuase of short term need. it could well be with a functional heating system that you might have on anyway it will cost you more to run in tandem with ch.0 -

Thanks for all the replies about the frozen pipe thing, I'll carry on trying to having the heating turned off then.
Having the heating off seems to be saving money in two ways. Because the house used to always be boiling hot, my husband used to have a fan on all night(sometimes up to 12 hours), but now it's so cold he doesn't use the fan anymore, so hopefully we're saving gas as well as electric, yay!
Not that bad I don't think, 2 years ago when we had a bitterly cold January my March bill was well over £400 - I must have been more cautious last year without even realising it because it wasn't nearly as bad! I hate feeling cold though, and have had the heating on constant for the past couple of weeks but set much lower than I used to.
I'm still sure I was swapped at birth with a Mediterranean child, I wasn't born for this climate:D0 -

This year I decided to invest in a water bottle for the first time. I amazed at how warm it feels in bed at night, definitely a good investment. Normally i'm wearing all sorts of this things to keep warm, but now I can still sleep in the buff and feel quite warm!!
I'm also finding that wearing a scarf and wooly hat definitely keeps the warmth in. It's about 5 degrees and it doesn't feel too cold. I'm not itching to put the heating on. The only part of me that feels cold are my feet, and that is probably because they are too big!0 -

Keeping your feet arm is importnt and makes you feel much warmer. Cheapy booty slippers fro the supermarket are making the world of difference for me, and I used to always have cold feet. My outside boots are all sheepskin lined or have sheepy insoles. I haven't had cold feet since summer!0 -
My goodness it's frosty this morning, the heat has gone on low:eek: the sun is steaming through windows now so it will go off soon.0
