is that what shergar's bad news is about? Oh dear. one loved one to orry about is raining , two (an dogs count for me) can be defeating. :(

woodburner on all day again, and I can't see me not lighting it tomorrow tbh. the cats and dh and I snuggled on the floor by it last evening and it was delicious. the hard frost was welcome here, let me haul some stuff in from the field. the yard surfce is lethal though...even though I gritted :(

I don't generally feel the cold when I'm outside with my coat and scarf etc on, but I was just out for half an hour tidying up the back garden, and I'm freezing now - heatings on.

I have just got back in from taking dogs out and coat, hat scarf would normally do the job for me as well, not today I'm freezing. The good thing is the house feels warm, there's no heat on at
the moment but will put it on low later to warm bathroom.

much milder outside today...no iced troughs and no dangerous slipping and skating across the yard. BUT, before I'd gone out I lit the woodburner, as it felt cold inside.
  • I have actually just turned the gas fire on in the lounge today, and the other little heaters in the house are on low...one of the dogs was shivering!

We went round to a friend's house today. It's so cold in there that her daughter wears her coat constantly in the house. We could see our breath. It made our house seem really warm, so that's a bonus! :D

    lol, sounds like here.

dh and I were having fun in the bathroo this weekend, I hadn't realised how steamy it was till I couldn't see him at he sink while I was at the bath, and our breath when warm from the bath:rotfl::rotfl:

this morning we lay i bed and felt TOO WARM while our faces were cold and we had dragon smoke breath.

BUT, we are chuging through december, and how long can it go one now really? we've been so very lucky so far this year. :)

nb: dining room here is really cold so I have put an electric heater on in there for a little while. I'm going to have people in there a bit this week, and want to be able to thaw it out quickly and bring it up to a more human temperature.:)

lir, I was thinking about how cold your house must be then I thought to myself, didn't we all used to live in houses that cold? We used to have a paraffin heater in the kitchen and I'd get corned beef legs from sitting so close to it when eating my Ready Brek in the morning. :D I used to think I had the warm glow round me like in the advert. :rotfl: No heating in the bathroom or bedrooms either (I still don't have the radiator on in my own bedroom). You're just hardy and i've got soft! ;)

    Exactly :)

when I was a little girl when in UK it as just as cold as this house...ice inside windows etc were more common. I don't think we should all suffer needlessly, but tbh it does seem crazy for people indebt and good health not to turn the thermostat down a degree or two and to not run it 24/7 just ''beacause its winter''.

children even used to play outside in the cold more and my mothers and grandmothers and so on didn't always have a car to pop into for a snug trip to the shops, they went more often and on foot or horse power.

now ofcourse we can live better, and heating supply is VERY CERTAINLY a part of that, especially for the unwell, the enforced sedantary etc...but for those of us I think it could be part of the luxuries that are compounding to make us less well...like overindulgence in food and antibacterial cleaning agents.
to be clear, I don't think anybody should make themselves ill or uncomfortable, but I think many could ease their wallets and suffer no ill health with a tiny move on on the thermostat.

I do look forward to having heating agin though, I'm not a fool:rotfl:
