yep were the same jackie ... we can see our breaths in the air ... and thats with the heating on ... sometimes we even go outside for a heat lol ... looking forward to visiting an aunty in hospital tonight ... it may cost us in diesel ... but atleast we will be warm for an hour :)
  • we are on as from this morning, properly on with the programmes all set, starting at 5 am with a 3 hour cut off at 9 and then on at 12 to 11 pm. The core of the house just got too cool and the heat sink wall and floor didn`t have any heat to retain. We have managed really well to date with electric heating as and when and it has saved us from carting pellets about. Whatever happens now we have about 80 sacks of pellets and I don`t want to get another tonne until beginning of next october, it is the sheer storage plus the carrying in from the road. It is a stove, a fancy Italian one that provides the ch and some hot water and it has a hopper. I reckon to be using about 6kg a day at the moment and it leaves just a tiny handful of ash from a 10kg bag. The rads are tiny and barely give off any warmth and there are 2 towel rads and a big master rad in the utility room but when the system runs then it is efficient and the house (eco) stays cosy and at an even temperature and humidity

I've got through the day without the wooburner and have just plugged in an electric heater to take the edge off the sitting room for the evening. Although I feel a little cold under my duvet huddled on the sofa I dont believe it can be that cold as the cat are on top of not under the duvet.

tomorrow I'm christmas shopping with my father, so might try to get through the day again without. dh then home for christmas/NY and we'll have the woodburner on every day.

Just stepped outside, feels really balmy. 12C outside but only 7C inside my conservatory due to the concrete floor acting like a fridge. Windows now open.

I find my conservatory is like a fridge as well,it's nice when the suns out it's warms downstairs on a dull day I have to shut it off. Can't believe this weather for December it's really mild ,let's hope it lasts.

kitchen nine this morning! Its almost t shirt weather, lol!

no woodburner, might flik the electric heater on when I close the shutters otherwise duvet for me for the evening.
  • Mine comes on for an hour in the morning so I can get ready for work and two hours in the evening but I watch Tv from my bed then with the electric blanket on low so the heating can go off.

I'm decorating over Christmas and NY so hope I'll keep warm with the exertion and will only need the heating on for the evenings. Have a coal fire in the lounge whcih I lit last weekend and the cats were fighting over who was going to lay in front of it.

It's so warm here tonight. I came back from Tesco about an hour ago and it was 9C outside! I went out this morning and it was 2C. Went into the car around 2.45pm and it was 5C and the temperature just kept rising until I got home about an hour and a half later. Really strange.
