Is your heating ON or OFF?

After reading that fuel/heating costs are 40% higher this year than they were last year I'm going to cope!
We got our oil tank filled last week. I must admit I was worried how much it would cost, but in April this year it cost us 66.4p a litre, last week it was 63.9p a litre, so I'm happy enough :T0 -
Ours is still off. 1 week until Mum arrives so it will have to be put on then for a month and I will worry about the cost until it goes back off when she leaves. Only hope it works when we turn it on for the first time and the recently painted radiators dont crack or blister. Last year we ended up with a faulty thermostat which didnt do the low numbers on the dial so it was tropical dry heat and a whoping bill! :coffee:Failure is only someone elses judgement.

Heavy snow this morning the same as Lostinrates,it's gone now thank goodness it's rainin again and the suns out.The heating went on for hour,I really couldn't face the cold bathroom first thing this morning I've showered when it's been a lot colder but for some reason I couldn't hack it today.Noticed the birds are now eating the food I'm putting out ,they didn't bother much through the summer really lovely to watch them a sign of colder weather I surpose.0

:rotfl:I know the feeling ,i walked into house after shopping yesterday and found Oh leaning over work top fiddling with CH controls :eek:he was trying to switch it on.I wouldn't have minded if it had been a really cold day and he wasn't in a T- Shirt:mad:.How stupid is that,i had to remind him in very strong words i am now redundant so put extra layers on.
I just like the way my OH blames it on the kids! Hes walking around in a tee shirt, they have all their layers on fine = trained :j Him
Mind you i dont know why i worry really he's the one that pays the bills, i just think of the all the money he would waste if it wasnt for me. :A0 -
mines has been on for a while now. i hate feeling cold and with 2 and 4 year olds i like the house to be toasty. My heatings on a thermostat so keeps the house at a constant temperatute of 20c. was actually dreading putting my meter readings in as its never been off and been known to be up at 22-23c overnight. which is a killer in the morning!!! anyway i put my meter readings in this afternoon and i am £90 in credit yay! thats after they deducted about 80-90 quid off for last months bill. all in all im happy and warm lol. (thats for elec too though, i was £60 for gas in last 30 days.)0

I really understand, especially from you/your OH's situation, but in spring 14 degrees is a lovely day....I take rugs off the horses at about 10 degrees, and would be wearing a tshirt and cardi rather than layers of umpers outside at 14 degrees.
have to admit though, starting to feel a bit colder thi evening, just my hands really.0 -

Oh do be careful with low temps in your home espeically if you have ill health, I wouldnt /or couldnt wear a t shirt at 14, but then thats me, I like to feel a bit of warmth on my arms and shoulders, its funny really how I like the house to be 21 degrees to feel comfortable during the day with a long sleeved jumper/fleece on yet when im a bed I like a cold room with the windows wide open , as long as I have a warm bed im okay, I love the feel of fresh air...............
I never wear layers, im just a jumper /fleece person with a good coat.my parents were very strict when we were at home that we MUST wear a coat when we went outside and that always stay with you.........my father was never seen in a tea shirt, definately where I take from ..............he always had long sleeves on,plus a tank top, plus a holey vest.......:eek:Good god can you still buy them?ha ha....:D0 -
Mine is off
I started replacing some radiators in September and ran into lots of problems which has delayed everything far longer than I ever wanted. Therefore my heating system is drained until I can get it finished.
My electric bill is going to be through the roof with the electric fire and convector heater usage. I have always thought that electric heating was more expensive for some reason and I guess I am going to find out for sure.
I do have a min/max digital thermometer in my lounge so I can see what temperature it is at. A fair bit lower than most people would find comfortable and a lot lower than some oven houses I have visited.0
