I have double glazing and cavity wall insulation which is ruined by the bleeping chimney that lets in all the wind through the back of the gas fire. How can I stop this?

SLIPPERS! I have a pair of booty slippers and with warm feet and ankles most things are bearable. I'd find it harder if had to be presentable and showering and out of the house early. e.g. today I thought a bout a bath and decided not to until thi afternoon when I'e finished the out door stuff and can snuggle in fleece pjs with the cats and a blanket. My laptop is warm too, so that helps,:o
lots of hot drinks too.
One day it will be warm0 -
Heating on at 21 degrees, had shower now in nightdress and thick fleece dressing gown and ankle boot fluffy slippers, so comfy, I could go to sleep very content.......so dark and windy outside it feels like 9 pm.......roll on March....:D0

I'm rather ashamed to say this but i havent got a clue what temp my house is. The thermostats are on the radiators and they are set at number 3 (which is the highest). I wonder if it tells me on the heater itself.:oThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

woodburner on!
seems a bit of a waste today as its milder, but its not fair to make other's suffer, not least as one of the visitors today is asmatic and I don't want them to risk their health to come here!0 -

It's been a few days now and the heating is hardly cycling on at all. Between two and three times a day for about ten minutes per time.
I can cope with this.
After reading that fuel/heating costs are 40% higher this year than they were last year I'm going to cope!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thank you for worrying, :kisses3:but honestly I'm fine...for now! Last year it felt like I had cold after cold, and at least one flu, but I feel fine, and when I inevtably don't I'll keep the woodburner on and sleep n the sitting room. I'm more worried bout the pipes. I have got three electric heaters, so if/when we get a deep freeze I guess the bes thing is to put one on the kithen, one n the bathroom and turn the immersion on to keep the pipes ''hot''. (the defunct heating system has been drained down so shouldn't be a problem).
The snow s layng now, and the flakes are HUGE, the size of snowballs0
