me too, 18f is just right for me, I have it set at 14f for when we get up in the morning, and I turn it up to 18f at around 6pm, until bedtime. Last year I had the heating turned to 20f in the evening, but I'm finding 18f fine this year.0 -
Off mostly, we are lucky to have a very insulated semi...i have been paying £35 per month for the last year this is for both gas and electric and i am still in credit, but not sure how long this will last. I do have a 15 yr old and he is jacked into the mains when he's in but knows to turn off when hes out which helps alot. I also keep the mobile thermostat thing in the warmest part of the house so it doesnt trip on loads and use a large blanket on the sofa for extra warmth if needed.Updating .................................................

Finally cracked. It never got above twelve all day in the house - so yesterday evening it went on... set at fourteen. Bliss
Ditto, ours comes on for around an hour each night now set at 14, just to take the chill off.Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
Mine's on fairly low now but I forgot to turn it off before coming to work, so the mutts will be nice and toasty0

Oh I hate it when my OH is off work and im not. I have the heating all set up, just right at the moment.
I came home last night to an unusually very hot house, OH said it was because of all the candles he had lit, I sat on that for a bit then thought to have a look at the thermostat, he had turned it up by 3 degrees!
When I asked who had turned it up he said 'i did, it was freezing when the kids came home'
Well it's set to come on til 4 my reply
And maybe you should put a jumper on. Grrr he's so not Mse trained yet.0 -
We have an electric radiator that comes on for an hour or so in the morning, that has just been for the last week or so, and is now up to about three hours in the evening. Mostly this is ok, as we are well insulated although does mean before I go to bed I am huddled in a duvet on the chair for the last hour or so.
Feel bad as I am working and OH is not so he won't put the heating on during the day... it must be said that he doesn't feel the cold as much as me, but he must feel chilly during the day.0 -
dog lamp on pretty much full time now....woodburner will be back on tomorrow for people coming here.0

:rotfl:I know the feeling ,i walked into house after shopping yesterday and found Oh leaning over work top fiddling with CH controls :eek:he was trying to switch it on.I wouldn't have minded if it had been a really cold day and he wasn't in a T- Shirt:mad:.How stupid is that,i had to remind him in very strong words i am now redundant so put extra layers on.0 -
The other day my DH went to a house where the lady was complaining she was cold, and it was the fault of the windows (he's a window service engineer). The heating was on full & it was VERY hot. But, although it was mid afternoon all she was wearing was a nighty & nothing on her feet. It was all laminate flooring. She complained that her feet were cold.....
Incidentally there was nothing wrong with the windows.
Unsurprisingly, and politely, he pointed out that heat rises - so that the floor is always likely to be cooler than the rest of the room, and that if she put some clothes on and something on her feet she would not be cold...
Afternoon, nightie, nothing on feet mmmmmmmm was she attractive as well0 -

I've managed to turn it off today, although that's probably too little too late, really wish I wasn't so stupid and turned it off when it was warmer!
Although I do have a reason to have the heating on a lot, because I'm self employed and my job isn't one that requires clothes. *ahem*
The heatings been off for about 3 hours now and the temp is 13, I'm not used to having the heating turned off so I feel really really really cold haha, I feel like I'm sat in a freezer! But I'm hoping if I sit here freezing my bits off for long enough, I'll get used to being cold and wont have to have the heating on as much.
I'm hoping I'll learn from this forum soon and be a money saving expert instead of a money wasting expert hahaha.
Good grief the mind boggles :eek:0
