Well it's been much more warmer here today, still 8.9 outside at the moment and managed to get the lounge to 25.2 with the added sunshine and the house is holding the heat in still so only had the heating on for 1hour morning and 1 hour evening. I am now making sure that the curtains go as far back as possible to maximise the amount of sun we get into the lounge. Also leave the oven door open while the oven is cooling down after cooking the evening meal
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

We have set ours to come on for an hour in the mornings 6 - 7, only went on on wednesday 16th though, so pleased to last till then (much later than last year), still off on the evenings atm, its cold outside, but nice and warm in.
  • STILL OFF

It's 11C outside now and it was a beautiful day. The sun was so hot that I was uncomfortably warm at work.
It was nice when I was dog-walking for an hour though. :)

14C in the house when I got home and I haven't bothered to put the heating on.

Well we lasted until the 16th. Woke up this morning to the heating on, it had dipped below the 15 degrees we had it on. SO I have set the timer to come on for an hour in the morning and then an hour around 4pm. Seems to have kept the house warm enough today. Will try and keep it at that. I have started to take a reading every few days now to watch energy consumption and see what is costing us. I'm happy we lasted until now and feel proud that we have saved a little money and energy.

It's been really temperate in London so no need to have the heating on during the day - but lately the nights have been cloud-free and hence the temperature has dropped significantly. I have my heating on in the evenings, keeps the house toasty all day (noticed this when I came in at about 6pm this eve - before my heating came on).

In contrast, my sister who has an identical house on the same street refuses to switch her heating on at all and it is freezing...the woman is so tight-fisted that she refused to switch the heating on even after the huge snowdump we had the Saturday before Christmas last year . I spent 6 hrs driving home (a 30 mile journey) that day to be advised by her to "wear a jumper if you are cold".
