heating still off except when my parents visit or if I get behind in the washing - but now using the woodburner a fair bit.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Its off here still. Dh is getting over a cold, DD1 has tonsilitis, DD2 has a cough and DS has a cough and sore throat. Most of them are running a temp and (those that can talk lol) dont want the heating on! I am still sat here in short sleeves so when it feels a bit chilly I grab my cardi or fleece and feel fine and have to take it off again a little while later lol. Kids are all in long sleeves and DS is in long sleeves and a vest.

I am at work later so it will be down to DH and the DDs whether they have the heating on or not. Tomorrow is bath night so it might need to go on whilst we are doing that. Last Sunday we put the heating on for kids baths and me and DH were absolutely sweating!

Was really warm yesterday when we went out, didnt feel the need for coats at all just light jackets.
    2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

  • had it on for the first time since March last night.

Less than an hour later I had all the windows and doors open to let in cold air.

I felt cold I was tired though so i'm blaming that rather than actually being cold

I don't think i'm ready for the heating on just yet.:D

I have all the windows and doors open today it's quite mild out

  • still off here also its about 18 degrees in the flat during the daytime so can cope with this.

Only had the halogen heater on twice to take edge off room at night. Electric costing us about 6 pounds a week for all gadgets at present (Telly, computors kettle lights and fridgefreezer plus showers and boiler) at present not bad.

This thread makes me more determined to keep going as long as I can.
  • freezing .... heating off though, i refuse to knock it on until later, all wrapped up warm here in fleecy pjs and dressing gowns though :D
  • I'm operating with one gas fire at the moment which is based in the back room/dining room. It does the job I may say. I'm getting the lounge fire serviced in a week.

I've had to put it on as OH & son are cold.
I've got some towels on the airers in front of the radiators so it's not all bad.

I`ve just clicked ours on for an hour, i`ve been doing the hokey cokey with the washing and i`m not putting it all out for a fourth time.

I`ve also put the dehumidifier on after moving it into the living room for a while so that should help too, every radiator is covered. What i really need is for my fleecy dressing gown to be dried as i can`t stand the thought of not having it to snuggle up in later.

Today has been a rubbish day on some fronts and good in others, i`ve noticed some marks on the living room ceiling and i`wasn`t sure if they were new ones or old ones coming through from the last people who lived here, i`d more or less convinced myself that they were old ones but now i`ve discovered a water mark down the wall which deffo wasn`t there before. I think we may have a slow leak from when the new rads were fitted but i can`t find anything upstairs. The floorboard that i`d lifted got dropped down pretty quickly when i saw the eight legged freak underneath so DH can check that out later, i won`t tell him about the spider :D it will be his punishment for covering the fabric of my lovely new sofa with ink.

Frugal - I`ve seen two false widows in the house :( one of these was the sipder under the floorboards and the other one came up through a crack in the floorboards in the same room. (no floor covering down yet)
I`ve run out of red raid after relying on it for years but will be getting some more verrrrry soon!
