A weekend away in DH's horridly overheated flat (no control over the heating there)was dismal....made me almost pleased to return home to ''the fridge''. Actually, the house is much warmer than when I left (haven't checked themometre) and the woodburner was on while I was away, so perhaps that and some nicer weather over the weekend warmed it up again. I'm very very confident I will make it to the weekend now, even when it gets colder...at the weekend I'm prepared to consider starting to use the woodburner...as DH will be cold here after the hot flat and it is almost the end of the month. If we can get through to the weekend after I will consider it a bonus.
Seems a decent compromise right now.

So far mine has only been on for two evenings for about 5 hours in total. I might put it on this afternoon because my daughter has a group of friends coming for her birthday. I don't want her to find no-one will come again because our house is so cold. I wrap up for it but I doubt if they will be warmly dressed because I am pretty sure most of her friend's parents have turned the heating on by now. Most of my friends round the village have had their heating on for at least 3 weeks.
In spite of our gas and electricity usage being almost a third down on the same period last year our direct debit has gone up by £9 a month. I dread to think what the cost would be if we hadn't cut down on our heating.0 -
Mine went on yesterday for the first time. It was raining here, rain and then some more rain - roads washed away kinda rain. Everyone was miserable. I knew DH would be wet and miserable so knocked it on for an hour to have the place toasty for him.0

Managed without last night but it did get a bit chilly. We have had the CH on just once so far, pleased with that.
