iTS ON in our house as of yesterday. Luckily we control the heat by turning the thermostat up or down, so only have it on when we are in the house, feeling cold.

Wondering though , all you MoneySavers who are not putting on your heating... how do you get your clothes dry during the Winter??

    Tumble drier!

Sad state of affairs, but tis the case rain or shine for us... we have no radiators, no outdoor space and nowhere to hang stuff indoors either.

this year I bought my first ever tumble drier. But hope to minimise its use, and do what I normally do...time the washing. A dry day, even when its cold, and especially with a little breeze, will get a wash dry and fresh on the line. A windy day with showers allows drying between the showers if you are home. Best of all I have a deep back veranda, which allows a couple of airers to dry sheltered from rain but out doors. :)

It's on now because I did a small load of handwashing (my delicates) and now they're on the clothes airer by the heater. Needs must...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Its switched on but the thermostat hasn`t clicked in and the radiators are stone cold.

Its 18 degrees in here with the fleece lined curtains firmly closed and the tealights lit so we are all warm and cosy - huge difference from last night!

Its still 5 degrees outside and no wind at all, just still and clear.

Can`t wait for it to warm up a bit at the weekend, should save us a few pennies :D

I've got the thermostats set to 17°C for getting up & both the upstairs & downstairs radiators had come on this morning, & downstairs came on again this evening... So I guess I now have the heating on. I've made a note on the calendar so I can try to beat it next year!

I find 17c a good level too. I put it down to 13.5c at night and 10c when I go out, although the house hasn't gone below 14 yet. Although maybe it has when I am asleep at night .... Mine is only clicking on for about 15 mins 3 times a day.
  • Mine on again for 1hr this evening. also used the heat to dry some clothes that were still damp from the line, so not bad. Temp remains about 16c in day, but must drop at night. Fleeces on beds help us to keep the chill out.

Not put it on as such, but it was cold last night and although slightly warmer out today the flat was colder so decided to do the first switch on/test run for 30 minutes to get the radiators up to temp and bleed them in preparation which helped take the edge off.
  • Heating was finally on tonight for a couple of hours. It's been chilly up here but this doesn't mean it's now on everyday, we'll see how it goes.

I lived in a flat once like this, it never bothered me when it was lashing down or freezing, but on a warm sunny day it would grind my gears I couldn't have a full line out.

Still we have to do what we have to do.
