Still off here, kitchens cold this morning though at 12 and I am hearing some mutterings of mutiny from the rest of the familyFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
We've got our first frost here this morning,OH had to spend a few minutes scraping it off the car before he could set off to work.
When I came down to make breakfast at 6am we had'nt felt cold as we'd had the dehumidifyer running overnight so it was lovely and warm,so it was quite a shock when we looked outside.
Soon as OH went off to work I opened all the windows and now the house is lovely and fresh.
Its just how I like it,I just wish OH felt the same.0 -

I just need to find a place that doesn't bang on about being environmentally friendly and doesn't make them 'with love'
Primark - between £10 and £12 and definitely not made with love!!
Got the halogen heater but ended up rowing about it with the fella, he can't understand why I am so cold says it's fine in here and therefore I am only "allowed" to put one bar on in the evenings. I then stormed off to bed.
So out of principle the blooming thing isn't getting switched on at all!
Why can't people accept that people have different body thermometers, some feel the cold more, people who have limited mobility *ie me!!* feel it much much more. Just cause one person is not cold doesn't mean nobody else can be!! After last winter living with no heating at -25c I swore I would rather go without food than go without heat.
Rant over!
PS. not quite as cold here today, gone up about 3 degreesTrying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

Well I put the heating on this morning for an hour. I only set the thermostat to 17oc but it needed it. My DDs were like little icicles at 6am even with PJs and socks etc on.
Seeing as everyone also has stinking colds I dont feel bad for putting it on.
Feels cold in the lounge at the moment as well (but then I am sitting still!). Have some layers on. DDs both at school and pre-school and DS is asleep in his buggy under blankets so he is ok. Might have to look into toddler groups, library, visiting family when the much colder weathet hits to I dont have to have the heating on all the time for us at home lol.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

Came close last night as a result of a little argument with Mrs K, who was demanding I put it on.
I would have but she was just sat in a tea shirt, jogging bottoms and no socks or slippers! I said I would but not until she put at least a fleece on.
She did and that was the end of the matter, I was expecting the wrath of her again this morning, but surprisingly she said nothing. It did dip to 2.9deg outside and 13.4 in the kitchen.0 -
Ours is on. I had hoped to last out until November but we had a frost overnight and the house was freezing this morning. Its been on for an hour from 7-8 and I have just put it back on again now for a bit.
I saw someone out and about in a skirt and sandals this morning. I am wearing two long sleeved t-shirts, a thin jumper, a fleece, jeans and furry boots. And I am still cold.
We lit the fire last night but managed without the heating. I think its going to be a bit milder overnight tonight.0 -

I had a look at the BBC map and I think Yorkshire was one of the coldest places in the country.
Definitely our coldest night so far this year, i did have to scrape the car this morning but it had warmed up to 2 degrees by then so it was only a very thin layer thank goodness.rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »Lost - that's cold for inside brrrrrrrr
Sunnydays - keep warm, that's .... baltic!
For you both - funnily enough, someone's just started a thread over on the pets board about what people do to keep their cats warm in winter ...... glad to see the pooches are just as pampered! (Mine's a "cold boy" and hates the heat but is now getting on so will be wearing his winter coat when we go out in the mornings)
LOL its great to see people concerned over the furries, little oldie has real trouble regulating his body temperature and i know that as they get older its a problem that not a lot of people know about, he`s equally as bad in summer and has to be walked early morning or late at night and then has a fan on when its really warm. He`s next to the radiator on his bed now and the younger one moved so that he could get where he wanted to be. Its great that she realises that he needs certain things and "helps out" IYKWIM.
The outdoor temp here is 8 degrees atm and the indoor is 18 now due to the sun shining through the window. The heating is permanently on now but will only actually light the boiler when the thermostat calls for heat. I think that 17 ish will be about right when i fine tune the stat later:D
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
