    I'm also hoping to hold out until the 1st November before putting the heat on.

    We have large livingroom windows, so it's quite warm in there when the sun shines.

    Of an evening the girls will happily use their quilts whilst watching TV. I've just bought extra bed socks, as my feet are feeling the cold, and I have made up hot water bottles the last few nights, but I am determined to hold out.

    I'm definately planning to keep the heating off till November the 1st too! We have the thermastat set to 15 and its soo cold here in wales that the heating actually clicked on earlier. As lovely as it was to feel the warm radiator, its now been turned down to 0 as we're wearing thick socks and jumpers and are snuggled up under fleecey blankets.

    We are aiming for the magical November 1st too. I nearly cracked today, but soon came to my senses! My reasoning is as follows;

    DD (4 going on 30) snuggles down in her bed and likes to wear bed socks and have a fleece blanket in the bed with her (always nice and warm when she comes in to my bed in the morning).

    DH sleeps with the quilt up to his chin (although I am sure he has more than his fair share so I think I will be investing in a king size duvet!) and as I have pointed out to him plenty of times in the past if he wores a PJ top he could probably let the duvet down a little!:rotfl:

    I on the other hand have DS as my own little hot water bottle! We are co-sleeping to help with the night time feeding so he is nice and warm snuggled in with me (plus he is wearing a all in one night time outfit and scratch mits so that keeps his toes and fingers warm!). :D

    No heating yet... One year i didnt need to put it on till near Christmas, thanks to the next door neighbour having hers on so high and the heat coming through. But when i did turn it on something had gone on the tank and we didnt get it replaced till 24 December.... Im really bad for not putting the heating on, and it is turned off soon as it can be I think this year it was off the beginning of February.

    i am afraid i put ours on last night as it was freezing here. We only had it on for an hour but that was enough to take the chill off before we were ready for bed. I also put my washing on airers near by so they could dry a little quicker.
    Think i will do it on a day to day basis from now on though. I was feeling disappointed with myself for giving in before 1 nov but then i thought that in previous years it would have gone on a lot earlier so really i have done quite well

    Very chilly wind today. Had to go out this morning and returned at about 3pm. I left the upper window shutters open in each room to let air circulate. Now the flat is rather chilly although 'fresh'. I'll be going out again in an about an hour and need to get changed but I shall NOT put any heating on - I'll undress and dress back in the cold - it won't kill me, and people have had to suffer worse cold in the past. We're too pampered in our times, and a bit of self-administered hardship will teach us to value what we have.

    Kind of a vicious circle isn't it. The more everyone cuts back, the higher the rates go. :D

    That's because privatised industries have shareholders who expect that little bit more every year...:rolleyes: :o

    Don't feel disappointed slm. The weather affects us all differently, depending on where we are and our own circumstances.

    Just do what is right for you.
