we've had our heating on for this week - it comes on at 7pm (and tonight I was counting the seconds waiting for it to click on!
) Only in the rooms we use though
Can see myself baking at the weekend to maintain a warm kitchen though!;)
I do feel the cold but OH has been walking around in shorts n tee shirt while leaving doors open
I'm often sitting wearing my comfy fleecy hoody of an evening (the one with the "kanga" pocket so I "keep" the remote accidentally)

I am ashamed. OH has insisted that we have the heating on tonight. And I have to admit I do feel chilly, even all snuggled up. Plus I have a little girl in bed to worry about too.
I insisted though that its not staying on permanently. So its tonight only...and then off again.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I am sitting at my computer with the central heating control just in front of me, but not turned it on. I am wearing loads of clothes too. Furry Ugg type ankle boots, warmer than slippers. Thick tights a long skirt a jumper and a cardigan. But I have just been up to make ds bed and I see he has the electric radiator on in his bedroom. I don't blame him, it is a v cold room. But he is sitting in just a t shirt and jeans. My dd doesn't seem to feel the cold and the oh is at the pub so he is allright.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Totally fed up with paying through the nose for Gas. We have a combi boiler and so far have managed not to turn the CH on but obviousley need to use the boiler to heat the water.
Had the chimnneys swept and intend using wood that i have collected over the summer also bought a load of coal at summer prices and loaded the wood/coal shed to the gunnels. Bought some blankets, jumpers and hot water bottles and will probably set the CH at 5 degrees when it gets really cold more to keep it ticking over and stop the pipes from freezing.
Lovely and warm with the open fire just need to educate the kids into shutting the living room door:rolleyes:
Local wood yard has run out of logs so i suspect lots of folks are doing the same.
I won't be surprised when the price of logs and coal go up due to demand;)0 -

leopardlady, and natbag, and maybe housebug too - are you payroll working from home or self employed? If payroll (like me), have you broached the subject of rising overhead costs such as heating and electricity with your manager? I must admit I haven't had the guts yet, but I will do very soon. After all they are going to have to pay lots more to keep their office-based employees warm as well, so what about me?? I definitely think it's worth a shot. I'm already a saving not using up valuable office space, and making my own coffee and not getting luncheon vouchers......"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
The temparature was so cold here yesterday that DD had to scrape the windows of her car - so the heating had to go on! thats how cold it was. When I parked the car tonight it was 6degrees so no doubt will be near freezing later tonight. There seems to be quite a strong northerly wind so all curtains etc are well and truly closed. I have the heating on from 6.45 to 7.30 in the morning and then it comes back on at 5.15 til 8pm, but I switched it off in the passing and no-one has noticed. Every ten minutes means ten minutes more in the really cold weather. Must go to the Hydro Electric shop and get a key for opening the outside meter and take readings every week, and will also look into getting a meter monitor.Every days a School day!0

Judging from the sound of what most of us look like, with socks, fleeces, gloves, throws etc, the population growth in the UK should slow down dramatically next year.
Apart from all looking like Mr Blobby, nobody is likely to disrobe without the heating on.

Thanks so much for this! I'm having a really bad day - money woes and I'm freezing too, and this literally made me LOL.
Thank you
I've had to give in and put it on tonight - I am sitting here looking Dead Sexy in all my layers but my hands were freezing.0
