That when I aim for ... I try to keep to the rule of no heating till November; kinda feels like its really winter when the month is November!
However I may have to put a plug in heater in DD's room. She has 2 external walls and her room is freezing and everything feels damp. Have put blankets over the windows today to try and last a little longer with no heating in there .... does that make me a cruel mother?!
Of course not, really don't get why some people need heating in bedrooms unless temperatures very, very cold. It's a room that you should have cool with a warm bed for health.
Unless of course a young baby or child with health problems.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

for me the cold wouldn't be an issue so much as the damp: the damp will mke it feel much colder and could lead to things with health repursions and damge to the fabric of your house...plsster etc.
nyway, heating off here, I'm snug under a blanket this evening. I might have lit the woodburner if I'd had any kindling in the house, as don;t feel brilliant, but dicided didn;t feel grumbly enough to back outside for some kindling. So, off.0 -
Last saturday I was swimming in an outdoor pool, tonight I have put the heating on for an hour and I'm going to put the heavier duvet on the bed.
Oooh, I was thinking the same on Friday! Previous Friday I was walking to my pal's for a 'sociable glass of cider' in my flip-flops. This Friday I had the heating on in the car while waiting for DS to come out of Scouts!
We gave in last night and put the heating for a couple of hours (God, it was chilly!). Strangely, though, it's warmer today so need for heating. Think we'll be playing it by ear.

Another one with the heating still off. It was warm enough to garden in a t shirt today. Have been making chutney, baking apples/pears and roasting beetroot so house is nice and warm. Will start ironing soon and that will keep the room warm.
OH has reminded me that I said the heating could go on in October but I am now holding out for November.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I'm just concious that people with no heating on but the option for it will wonder if they are going mad that they can't cope.
Lol. I'll qualify that then... The "new" (provided by Warmfront) central heating is currently OFF. The AGA as always is on, so perhaps contributing a little to the comfortable 20C here in the lounge, although it is the other end of the house in the kitchen :beer:0 -
My heating is still off, for the moment anyway. It is certainly getting colder at night though. I too am trying to hold out until November. Will have to see what happens.

ON - Had to give in as my DS was ill and hubbie now off on holidays as well as my son. We are in the North East of Scotland, weather has been good but has turned over the last few days. Have managed to survive without it up to now as most days I was here myself. Away for the week so will be switching it off before leaving tomorrow!MFW - currently at £23,610 (Aug 2014) MFD 20200

only just found this thread but I always end up discussing heating with people at this time of year.
Its a standing joke at work that I will never put my heating on until november. No matter how cold it gets I can't bring myself to put it on. Got lots of woolly jumpers, rugs and a couple of cats to snuggle up with.
The kids complain but I tell them its character building and I will have to dock their allowance if they put it on. It works.
I love the snuggled up inside feeling so I don't mind in the slightest. Its when my head gets cold sticking out from under the covers that I know its nearly time to switch on!
Warm regards to all!0 -
Off here! Even got hubbie to admit to no heating until November!
Although I have washed the fleecy throw this week, located my winter dressing gown and decided I must invest in some new slippers and pj's all in readiness(skimpy old vest tops just don't cut it!)How long til pay day?
