My heating has only been off for a few weeks all year. I am in Scotland so it was on pretty much all winter, but my stone house has never warmed up this year and I lead a very sedentary life. I wait until I am numb with cold before I switch it on, but even today I was very uncomfortable without heating. I have two layers of socks on and thick trousers and a woolly pully. Heating OFF. Have been a bit tempted tonight though. Did say to hubby earlier "You do realise if we get visitors we'll have to turn on heating" we were hoping to hold out till Christmas and then have the big switch on for Christmas Day as a special treat:) Not a hope I think. Our 2 lovely cats are playing at who can get the best hot spot by lying on top of hubby while he plays the XBox, there's been a fair bit of hissing and a bit of boxing but low and behold they both are lying on the back of his legs purring like mad and nearly touching each other which is lovely to see. I keep checking their ears to make sure they are cosy enough.I love this place :j:T:j0

euronorris wrote: »What's the weather prediction like for the UK? They are predicting a high of 26 in the South of Holland tomorrow, and the south of the UK is often similar. Even here, further north, a high of 19 is predicted, with the weekend looking more like summer.
I hope you all have some warmer days in the UK too!
The forecast for the weekend is low 20s, around 22 - 23 so the heating is remaining well and truly off!0 -

We are very very fortunate to have all this beautiful weather on East Coast , I wouldnt move up north for love nor money with what they have to put up with, if I get one days rain im feeling low and depressed cos I cant get outside, god only knows how they stick it, plus their fuel bills must be horrendous every year...........0 -

We have a key meter for the electric and a quantum meter for the gas, at the mo I am putting £20 per week on the electric meter (which will rise by an extra £5-£10 per week when the heating is being used plus the cost of putting Gas on the meter so I think that will be another £25 per week that is if the usage is the same as last yr)... so in total I will need to pay at least £50 per week for gas/electric... I really cannot afford it so its staying off till we really need to have it on.
i have pre pay for elec and use £10-!4 a week when i can i put abit more on so we have an extra day im hoping this will give a week at xmas without worrying about topping up could you do this with your gas put a little on each week while you dont need to use the heating and then you won't have to put as much on in winter if i had prepay for gas this is what i would do im paying on a payment card atm but i can pay extra to cover winter if i think my payments are too low,i am paying £1.50 a day =£46 a month i already know that i will use more in the winter but because its a payment plan it means when we get to next summer it should even out which is the same as paying a bit on your meter every week i 've spent many a day with thermals on and lots of jumpers cos i was too scared to turn the heating on in case they upped the payments
now i know i can pay a little more if want to it will help but heating will not be on regularly untill really cold end of oct i hope i just put it on for an odd hour if i can't get clothes dry only me and2teenagers or if my grandkids visit and they are cold i hope this helps2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year0 -
Still off at the moment although tomorrow is saying it might rain heavy. Next week is gong to be fab weather for most f us, in it's early to middle 20's so that will mean the heating stays off as well. After next apparently it's all a bit downhill. Our heating is off. Turned a bit chilly in our lounge last night so had a blanket on. Am exhausted at the moment as DS doesnt sleep so I think that is more to do with feeling cold than actually being cold if that makes sense! Its been lovely and sunny during the day here these past few days and I see its set to be lovely all of next week.
Our bedrooms temperatures are still ranging from 19oc-23oc so no worries there!
I always think that once the heating goes on there is no going back as it makes you feel colder easier as you get too used to it.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.
