Is your heating ON or OFF?

Well, I've been for a 1½mile brisk walk, and feel better and warmer for it. It was though, what you'd call "bracing"! Fabulous!
It was sleeting very slightly there and back, but has completely stopped now. Nothing laying anywhere, but it has made the paths and roads wet, so they're going to be lethal once it freezes tonight!
I don't know how - as it's supposed to be on it's 24hour setting - but my heating went off sometime this morning, which is why my lounge was only 14º
I tripped it before I went for my walk, and it's now 16º in the lounge (thermostat is in hall, and set to 15º) hardly tropical, but noticeably warmer than earlier in the day.
Once the curtains are closed and evening fully sets in, I think I'll probably put it up to 18º for a couple of hours to properly warm the place up.....who knows, I may even get warm enough to take my body warmer and scarf off!
I know there are plenty in my position - and worse - but I honestly never thought I'd see a day where I had to wear a scarf and body warmer inside my own home to keep warm
arr thanks, yes it was lovely to walk as you well know, the wind is still blowing here and its below freezing, but I do appreciate the heat I have in this bungalow, ive had too many years in the past where ive struggled desperately to keep us all warm......
I think a lot of us have been through that with children and unheated houses and no money.....Yea get your heating up to 18 at least and be comfy for the rest part of the evening....
I fell asleep at 5.30...when I woke I thought id had a few mins kip, but id slept for 1.5 hours... thats all that fresh air down the beach and sitting warm when I got home ........put me in heaven, ooh I feel better for that power nap....:Tdont worry I will still sleep for 9 hours tonight....no probs!!!:D0 -

what I'm saying is that often its cold enough for me not to that I notice I'm still not wearing a scarf. We've had ice on the inside of windows a few times now this year and I am lucky you are right, but I CHOOSE to be tight on heating because I'd rather have the money for other things...like fixing our house and getting the outdoor loo moved indoors sometime in the future! with no children, no elderly and only the animals and me here on weekdays heating, bar for the bath and heating in the evening (the two are linked here) is a sacrifice I feel it easier in MY situation to make than for most people. Furthermore, I'm kind of oppose to wasteful heating: I would feel ''wrong'' ethically even if money were not an issue ever, ''wasting'' heat to have heating on so I was wearing a vest indoors. In actual fact we first started skimping on heating for money reasons and later for health ones.
This weekend we had a wanton heating weekend because we had people here, professionals, to examine the house for work and then people for supper: another financial choice which I appreciate I'm lucky to be able to make...skimping on things like heating for me through the week means I can ''splurge'' on heating for guests and food for them
No worriesThe trouble with the written word, is that we know what we mean when we write/type it - but without the benefit of both vocal and facial expressions, it can come over totally different to how we intended.
Just had my tea, and as my kitchen & lounge/diner is open plan (ridiculous planning) with the benefit of my oven having been on, we're now a glorious 19º :j Obviously that wont last, but my word, it's reet toasty in here are the moment
LOL @ you Shegar and your "few minutes kip" being 1½hrsThat's sea air for you. I really must venture down to the beach more often too - I'm only a 15 minute walk from it.

OFF. Its warmer here today, though the wind has picked up so outside it feels worse. In side the wind is limited to roaring draughts
so i the main protected from that.
That said I felt the need for a hot breakfast, and don't want to do much apart from sit under a duvet with the cats.0 -
Mine is off at the moment - however I am sat here under a blanket with a hat on and a hot water bottle. I'll have it on this evening I imagine but no need when I'm on my own. That's the rule in this house - only on when there's more than one of us at home.0

Central heating off (only comes on for an hour just before OH gets up for work at 5.20am) but have lit the log fire in the living room, it isn't throwing out a lot of heat yet but hopefully it'll get warmer. Central heating will come on again this evening if the fire hasn't warmed the rest of the bungalow up enough.

-1 outside which isn't too bad and 10 degrees inside. Have been putting GC heating on for much longer the past few days. I am now turning it on about 3pm/4pm and leaving it on till 11pm or thereabouts. Even then though, the indoor temp isn't rising above 15/16 degrees. I'm going to bleed the radiators today though and hopefully things will improve, though i tried it last time and it made no differerence at all. Anyway, i'll give it a go.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
