I said yesterday that it was so far the coldest day so far this winter, but ive changed my mind its definately colder today , the wind is so raw and biting, -8....I went to the beach like I normally do ,but today it hurt trying to breathe..........in the end I had to put my gloves hand over my nose and mouth............its a long time since ive had to do that.........I was well dressed for the weather , next time I go im gonna wear my army balaclava, :eek:then I will look scary..with only my eyes popping out.....:eek:....
My heating is on as usual, it tooo cold to go without.......im amazed at the posts on here where people still dont have their heating on at all or much, these temps we have this week are probaly the coldest it ever get, so if you not got heat now I dont think you ever will.........

My heating is on at full. It is freezing and has been snowing almost all day. It's lovely and warm now. Weatherman said tonight the temperature in Scotland could hit a record low. It's really cold in Yorkshire but not -25 to -30 deg as it could be in Scotland. Please keep warm.

Here we haven't been below -5 yet I think, according to the weather sites and not adding on windchill or ''feels like'' temps. Last winter we had -15 often. When that happens I shall certainly be less gungho I think.

I almost always have everything but eyes covered when outside. Apart from when I have clients/meetings outside and then I hurry people into a barn or invite them into the house...which feels warm compared to outside!

I thought today was warmer but one of the troughs refroze and that one didn't yesterday, so maybe not.
  • I'm working from home today because of the snow and my frugalness is fighting my coldness. It's been on for 2 hours today already, and I want to wait for OH to get home at 8ish before I turn it on again. Must resist!

  • I am the only one who is flabbergasted at the amount of folks who sit in houses with no heating on? Is everyone so badly off that they need to do this. Now clearly that WILL be the case with some folks but I think I would get rid of other things first before heating. So, is everyone here just so badly off that they can't heat their house? Or is this some sort of strange competition going on?

The bit I highlighted in red is great, because you can save and spend where suits you, likewise the rest of us can prioritise our choices :) I'm more concerned about people with ill health or who are in extremely terrible weather conditions who can't afford heat OR who are risking greater financial risk(frozen pipes, damp etc) and health risks than I am the odd nutter like me who wants to spend a minimum on oil so I can spend another way :). The only competition for me is against myself. :) It can't be anything else to my view as we live in different sorts of homes and areas and have difernt needs.
