Is your heating ON or OFF?

im the same as you dundeedoll my walls mine cant be insulated either :mad: and my house gets so cold, im even thinking of exchanging as i cant put up with it.
My heating has been on most of the day except when i went out for a few hours but is now turned off. My house seems to hold the heat in more in the evening than during the day.
Mine is the same, great mahoosive high ceilings and paper thin single walls. Whole blooming walls of glass!! (massive 6'x8' bay window, double glazed thank god)
I find it takes an age to heat and unless the sun is streaming in the windows I just leave the heating on all day otherwise it just takes forever to get to a reasonable temperature.
To be honest, as long as I don't have it hot enough to grow orchids it doesn't pump the bill up much more.0 -
Oh been there, done that... have you no emergemcy credit left? ( I did that in too in the past) or a portable electric you can plug in just for tonight.
Early night watching telly under the duvet if not missus!

Oohh, get a hot water bottle/wheat bag and a duvet out, it's amazing how much warmer it gets when you have a small heat source under the covers.
Light a few candles to give the place a cosy glow.
Spent more than one night like that in harder times ,things are a little easier for me these days, and I count my blessings.

Just hope everyone is keeping as warm as they can afford, it's extremely cold out there at night. Hypothermia is a very sneaky thing and the symptoms can appear to be something else... sleepiness, mild confusion, poor judgement.
The room temperature to avoid the risk of hypothermia/ stroke/ heart attack should be 16C.
Ideal room temperature is 21C.0 -

Aye, it doesn't go far in this weather. More month than money.
Hope it goes a bit milder soon..... and yes I'd keep the leggins on, at least till you warm up.
You'll be up all night to the freezing bathroom after all that tea, might beat the night time bogdash record I held in my youth when we had an outside lavvy... Ahhh the olden days :rotfl:0 -
Full blast at the moment as I have been away for most of yesterday and today so my house needs warming up a bit.0
