What a beautiful day in West Yorkshire, the sun is shining and the sky is blue. It is cold but Im still warm from my bath. Unfortunately my sciatica is still playing up and I cant stand for more than a couple of minutes. Will have to start planning Christmas as I have very few presents bought, DH will have to be incharge this year.

Wrap up folks if you venture out, I would love to join you, I love wrapping up and going out on days like this - clears the sinuses, maybe next time.

    Take care

I ave problems with sciatic nerve too, I'm just so grateful to have been ok for a while. Please take extra care while being forced to keep still. If you get muscle spasms with your sciatica the cold will NOT help at all.

Heating off and house airing to clear the nights condensation! It IS cold but at least its a nice dry cold, my joints aren't complaining as much as they have been in the damp weather. Because its drier its less slippery underfoot outside too. It was harder to get out of bed this morning though, but once outside it was crisp and delightful. After being outside for a while coing back in feels warm even though the windows have been open, so I'll be fine for a while. I'm certain it will go on later though, maybe for an hour when the windows are closed and then this evening for a bit.

edit: windows closed now, they were open for about three, three and a half hours. Luckily the sun is shining brightly and instead of putting the heating on I've just put a small heater on for the cat upstairs. The other cats are ok, and the dog that doesn't like the cold has her suit on and is ok. :)

I have two little poodles who hate the cold,i always let there coats get thick in winter but they still hate it .The little girl is the worst shes tiny much smaller than she should be, she has to have a cats harnes as evan puuppy size is to big for her.
  • Its still off at the moment ! :D

:( However the landlord (mum in law) wants us to put it on low for a few hours a day to prevent the pipes from freezing and bursting  Which has annoyed me a little but I have decided as soon as it hits zero and snows to put the heating on for half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening but when the temperature rises again it will be turned off again.

Even though all our radiators have new individual thermostat valves fitted the main thermostat on the wall in the hallway is not working properly (and I think is the cause of the high bills) as it wont go on low it keeps creeping up until it will kick in so its like the balmy Tropics or nothing in this house. Plus we have a battle with condensation !

Keep warm and dry everybody and stay well ! :)

Poor little things. I have a pig lamp which the cats and dogs get if they are chilly. They LOVE the red light and quickly learn that red means warmth! If its ok for me but I'm worried about them thats what I use. :)

first link on google, not a recommendation for the company...

Mine is really useful for me, I use it for chicks in the spring, the cats in winter, and its also really good at highlighting any hairs missed epilating!:o:o Its been used for puppies, and in extreme cases for drying horses. In fact, the only thing mines not been used for is pigs :rotfl:

Thank you lostinrates, I'm alternating between lying on back with pillow under knees, lying on side with pillow between knees, sitting - for drinking and eating, and walks to the bathroom. I had a scan this week so waiting for the results now. It's very frustrating not being able to go to work or do the simplest of jobs like loading the washing machine. I am keeping warm though - thank you for your concern.

  • On, as I predicted it would me. I didn't anticipate I'd be having an outside swim to save a chicken in the slurry, though...chicken and I both need some warmth now!

I've just read your post giving all the details, and having a chuckle at the images. You couldn't make it up!Poor you,but lucky, lucky Strawberry....Hope that you've warmed up now.

Heating off here, but five days of snow predicted.
After work,I find that I warm up really well, once I've had a hot shower and put on my layers of night attire. So I don't feel the need to put the radiator on.
