For anyone suffering from a damp house.... PUT THE HEATING ON.... its cheaper than dealing with mould and damp, not to mention the associated illnesses.
There is no point being cold for colds sake.
Mine is ON!0 -
If folks are really struggling moneywise then I can understand it but there is something sad about sitting in a cold house when you don't have to. Or perhaps I am just living in the wrong part of the UK. If I had my heating off you would be able to see my breath.:rotfl:weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Coudnt agree more with you, I cant understand people sitting with 3 layers on, house perishing cold, wet windows, etc, but they are determined not to put the heating on.......everybody knows that we get winter every year so why not plan a bit a head so you are prepared for the colder months........im all for trying to cut back and save a bit, but hey come on heating is so important when its cold..........0 -

My heating has been on this weekend to dry the carpets I've been cleaning, but I like to avoid heating as much as possible. DH has psoriasis and I have other health problems, our doctor assured us that not using central heating more often than one absolutely has to is generally healthier but also much better for DH's skin. we are lucky that money is not unbearably tight, but even if we were as rich as Croesus we wouldn't run heating more than we have to.....it seems wasteful to me, and our own budgets, world resources included...its just not for us.
Thankfully we all control our own budgets and those who like it warmer can plan fr it, and the rest of us can bundle up in clothing and save money.
N.b. I turn heating on when I need it and when we have guests, I'm in a position where I don't need to make visitors shiver.
edit: I wish hosts would turn the heatng down to a happy medium, say 18/19 degrees when we vist too...then we can all be warm, noone too hot and no one shivering. I usually feel like a gun dog when visiting at this time of year: used to living outside so pants and paces in the heat of the ''treat'' of being by a host's fire in a heated room!0
